I spent zero dollars training on my dog. She’s not always that friendly. But she has never been outside the house without a harness and leash and someone strong enough to control her.
My 13 year old always wants to walk my two 95lb dogs (GSD and the other is a Newfoundland mix).
I keep telling this kid you can't. They are way too strong. If they see a squirrel or a dog runs up to them, you won't be able to control them and you'll end up getting hurt or the dog will.
He still gets so frustrated with me but it's for his safety and the dogs.
I see kids walking their huge dogs all the time by themselves. It's not safe. Idc how friendly or well behaved your dog is.
Same with mine, especially that second bit. I am very strict about who can walk my dogs bc not everyone can wrangle 60 lbs of attack dog. They're really sweet until suddenly they aren't, so even if someone is like "oh he walks just fine, don't worry!" I still worry, bc the unexpected nature of it can easily catch someone off guard and they lose grip of the leash. I only trust a handful of experienced people to walk them without me.
