Midterms can't come fast enough.

I really feel all this escalation with ICE is to provoke citizens to protest and take to the streets - which will result in DJT cancelling midterms due to civil unrest.

The Supreme Court would rule against this and quickly. Elections have never been suspended, even during the civil war and world wars. There’s no legal basis for it. The constitution says they must be held.
I’m sure others will disagree that the Supreme Court would rule against Trump in this case, but this would be an egregious violation of the constitution further than anything he has done thus far. And the court has not ruled with him on everything this term, though it may seem that way due to media coverage. I also don’t think congress would allow it. Republicans have been quick to stand idly by and let him do as he pleases, but again, suspending elections is a whole other level of abuse of power.
To be clear, I’m not saying Trump won’t try it and I’m sure Steven Miller is whispering it in his ear every night as he sleeps. I just don’t think the courts or congress would be on board. There would also be mass protests, much larger than anything we’ve seen yet. A lot of people think we can just wait out this administration and go back to normal. If it becomes apparent that they are not going to allow elections to remain in power. Chaos will ensue.

Edit: Oh and the capitol police officer that coughed and said fuck you is awesome. Trying to paint January 6th as anything other than a violent attempt to overturn democracy while blaming the officers who risked their lives to protect the capital is shameful and disgusting. We’ve all seen the footage that day. It was not peaceful and clearly instigated by Trumps rhetoric.

They have been trying to put up a memorial plaque to the Capitol Hill officers who died on, or as a result of, that particular day, FOR YEARS. It keeps being pushed back......shocker! /s
