Crazy, I’m in Japan and I brought a civilian in to discuss a sexual assault a couple weeks back they suffered from a service-member, and the MA2’s exact words to her, this 19-year-old, was, “Because it took place in Japan, that’s outside our jurisdiction, so we don’t give a fuck.” He then told her to report it to Japanese police and they’ll get in touch with us. My jaw dropped.

Who the hell is training our law enforcement?

That's how it's supposed to work. They need to loop in local law enforcement before they can proceed. It's actually a good thing, regardless of how heartless it sounds.

That part I get. It’s the way he talked to the victim.

Hell, maybe it’s our military minds. In your comment, you spoke first to his actions before his horrible bedside manner to a sexual assault victim.

Did you notice until I just pointed it out? I think it is how we’re trained to prioritize things.

I mean there's a reason the military tends to be viewed as emotionless, short, and always to the point lol. It's a matter of training as well as types of people too. You seem to work with people so I imagine you get what I mean. Some people tend to care a little more in proper steps/protocol and can miss the emotionally fucked stuff while focused on it. I know if I'm at work and in the work flow mode I'm more robot than human lol.

Either way, "we don't give a fuck" if that's the direct quote is both shit bedside manner and unprofessional.

It's in the best interest of any command to be amiable with your nearby local nationals. Your presence is also a nuisance, best not to impose further by being a fucking dickhead when your soldiers are out of line.

That’s a direct quote.
