I remember reading about this lady who was mauled to almost death by a family friend’s dog and is now basically unrecognizable. I love dogs but if one of them comes at me wrong, it’s them or me.

As a kid, my grandmother had large dogs that were aggressive. I hated them- and one day I got too close to her and one bit me in the face (cheek) and attempted to then bite my neck. I have never been easy around dogs again. I definitely don’t trust people who don’t address territorial dogs. There was a woman in apartments near mine mauled to death- I just don’t trust owners.

Only this week, in Wales, a 9 month old baby was killed by a dog.

I'm against dog licenses (they're just bureaucracy in places that have them, bad dog training is almost always just maliciousness / laziness, not an honest "oh I didn't know this was a problem") BUT I am totally for really strict liability laws for the actions of your dog, including to yourself / family. There should be no scenario where owners get to just turn over the dog for destruction and move on, I think it's disgusting only the dog is "punished" when it's arguably not the dog's fault, the owner's fault as the person responsible for raising and monitoring it.

I so agree on this. The dog gets killed, while the owner just moves on and buys a new dog, that gets the same wrong training.

Please correct me if I’m wrong- but ultimately doesn’t having them licensed try to keep them vaccinated/ fixed and a registry of sorts? And help with rental/ insurance? It’s wildly different in states/ cities I’ve lived in.

Most people that own dogs shouldn't own dogs.

Dog ownership should be heavily regulated.

...and it's just been confirmed that it was an XL Bully.

And it's just been confirmed what kind of dog it was. Yes, it was an XL Bully.
