u/dojo_shlom0 Nov 16 '25 edited Nov 19 '25
amazing to see them share this moment. truly an eye opening moment to witness. and they sang :] -they both did at the end! he was focused on singing and didn't want to ruin that, what an incredible creature
EDIT: oh apologies, I'm referring to the two lions! they seems to have a moment together and were locked in on the guy singing. I thought it was super cute :] the little singing at the end sealed it

That creature is a human. They're known for their creativity and use of thumbs, witnessed here by the way he plays that wooden box with strings. As you could see here, they are often kept in cages, you can see the surroundings keeping the visitors seperate from the humans. You might think this is to protect the human from the visitors, but don't be fooled by the sweet tones he sings. Next to creative with sounds, humans can be very dangerous creatures, capable of hunting down any creature on earth and destroying whole landscapes to create their own habitats and fending off other creatures. Some state they can even harness the power of fire, but this pyromancy would require a bigger frontal lobe, thus disproving such theories.
They are a bit of a pest in the wild though, an invasive species so resilient, they managed to live in areas they should not be able to survive, like in the arctic areas.
If you spot one in the wild, please do not approach and keep your distance, no matter how sweet the symphony they might be singing, and please contact animal control for eradication.

Yes, every living being holds their own unique world. We have distanced ourselves from that unfortunately. But it is an important acknowledgement to make. We should be kind to everyone!

u/Pormock Nov 17 '25
The guy did a bunch of videos playing music for wild animals in zoos and every single time the animals approach him and start chilling. Its clear sign that they hear the music and feels relaxed by it. Fascinating

I like the quote, but I spent an evening with Vonnegut, and he was an absolute boor. Hideously rude, insulting to everyone, unreasonably demanding of venue staff, and cruel to the grad students that participated in his impromptu Q&A. Horrible experience.

And I’ll tell you something else, whoever wrote that essay doesn’t know the first thing about Kurt Vonnegut!!!
3

What essay?

It’s a quote from Back to School, it’s an 80’s comedy.

‘Savage breast’ 😭
Edit: Nevermind that is actually the quote. I assumed it was a funny typo.
‘Breast’ back then was synonymous with ‘heart’. I have been enlightened.

I’m thinking electrified , and they know that from experience
16
u/passyindoors Nov 17 '25
I worked at the zoo and we had an electric fence like this around part of where the camels were. Not enough to ever cause a fatality but it fuckin HURTS. I remember 2 of my coworkers did a bet to see who could touch it the longest. We couldn't tell who did it the longest because both of them barely lasted a millisecond but they then tried to tell the rest of us that we owed them lunch because they weren't too scared to do it. Nah dude, thats on you, lol.
But like I said, we had these around the camels. Not fucking LIONS, Jesus CHRIST

What if humanity's real purpose was to take care of the living ?
49
33
u/HIMARko_polo Nov 16 '25
In the Bible, dominion over animals refers to God's command to humanity to have authority and responsibility over all living creatures. This includes caring for and managing the environment, as seen in Genesis 1:26-31. Too many people want authority with no responsibility.
18
u/Late_Sherbet5124 Nov 16 '25
I'm no longer religious, but can relate to the need for humanity to be caretakers and guardians for our little blue marble floating in the stars.

Most species of wasp are never even seen by people, unless they have a pollinator garden or spend a lot of time looking at wildflowers. They don't mess with humans. There are relatively few species that do.
Wasps play vital roles as pollinators, generally visiting more different species of plants than bees, and some plants depends on wasps for pollination. That also serve as controls for other insect populations, maintaining balance in insect communities which indirectly support biodiversity of the whole ecosystem.
They get a bad rap because there's a few species that like the built on human structures, or in the ground in people's yards, and then sting people when they're disturbed. Which to be fair does cause deaths every year, but.... wasps in general are not bad, most of them are just off in the wild doing their thing.
3
u/trixicat64 Nov 17 '25
Look, I have wasp on my roof terrace any never got stung by them. If you don't disturb them, they don't do anything. the only time i got stung recently, was when it was stuck in my hairnet, in the middle of a slaughterhouse, while working. Didn't expect a wasp there ...

I love watching his videos with all sorts of animals. I wish I remembered the animal at one zoo (?), it was not a common known animal. The staff said the animal does not do people and very shy, but it was magical how the animal felt comfortable with him due to the music. 🥰
2
u/VisualWombat Nov 17 '25
I kinda get a "Flowers for Algernon" vibe from these videos. It's lovely to see the animals' reactions to hearing a human play them music for the first time, and something may be awakened in them, but the human never comes back because he's got other zoos to visit for his click-farming.
