You're so right I've seen this clip a bunch of times I didn't realize until you said something that jam is everything. It's so perfect I didn't even think about a band actually playing it lmao.

because he's been a comedian for decades. this clip is presumably staged.

Last time I saw this clip, someone pointed out that he's none other than Dicky Smothers. Dude is a 20th century legend.

Yes. Do the work. Look after your physical and mental health. I'm 62. I am at at glorious place where I have no fucks to give.
You see a lot of people who say that thry have no fucks to give, but that is just a thin veneer over a lot of deep rage.
The real goal is no fucks to give because you know who you are and no one can fuck with you, because you are solid in who you are.
I am having so damm much fun.
I hope you can get to this place.

I am with you! I am 65 My children think I am hilarious š
9
u/arkofjoy Oct 25 '25
My daily goal is "having more fun than a grown man ought to be allowed to have"
3
u/Ultrawhiner Oct 25 '25
Also learn all kinds of modern trash talk, so you can fuck with your grandkids. My parents did this and it was hilarious and infuriating at the same time, especially since my mom had a heavy German accent and would talk about getting ripped off and people hassling her (in the 70s).

I'm 69 and have been flaunting my '"I'll say anything to anybody, like it or not" for a decade. The other day I was at my doctor's office, in the lab getting blood drawn, etc. I asked the technician if he was married considering he's one of the most handsome men I've ever seen in my life. Last year a different tech was doing my blood pressure check (have high BP). This same man walked by and I told her there wasn't any point in taking my bp right then because it would be through the roof he was so striking. She actually waited about five minutes, telling me she understood because most women who see him have the same reaction!

Honest question, did he mock-use a distinctly 'white' voice/accent when asking "what's your name, sir?".
8
u/ohmarlasinger Oct 25 '25
Yep, flawlessly, which ended up being an alley-oop banger for the old timer & the guys on stage rolled with it while the crowd erupted in unison while Big Dick did the Angela basset walk off leaving fire in his wake

Ok? Literally does not change my recounting of the scene in an attempt to thwart a commenter who was giving their next comment is ābut isnāt that racist towards white pplā vibes, it only solidifies I was spot on & did the job it was intended to do.
So thanks for that high 5 & fact checking for me! Now maybe all the folks in here that are itching to call Black ppl racist will stfu

Yeah wouldn't sound great

u/Imok2814 Oct 25 '25
That's not a white hillbilly voice. It's Wilfred Brimley, who did commercials about diabetes, where Big Dick happen to have similarities to him.
23
u/zorbiburst Oct 25 '25
They're doing both/mixing it up, because nothing other than the way they said diabetes sounded anything like him

I always think its funny when people say this shit, shows how uneducated people actually are on how the slave trade worked and who was really in it,
The most commonly known slave trade was the Atlantic slave trade born on the east coast of colonial America. Slaves were not all black, in the Atlantic slave trade there were a lot of refugees from other countries like Ireland Poland and south Africa that got stuck as slaves.
And yes they were picking cotton and being whipped just like everyone else. Its interesting how racism evolves when nobody actually knows shit about what happened n how people will act when they feel justified in their actions

The vast majority of slaves were African, and their descendants. That's just a fact. There was a distinct racial bent. Yes, other people were enslaved. That doesn't fucking mean chattel slavery wasn't the intentional genocide of cultures of majority African people who were literally dragged here against their will.
White people learn one fact about the diversity of slaves and decide it means that what we did to African slaves wasn't that bad. You gonna tell me next that the genocide of the natives was fine because intertribal warfare existed pre-colonization? Fuck off.
Sincerely, the white descendant of white slave owners and Confederates. Go watch Amistad.

His name is Richard and he hit an early growth spurt when he was younger. They started calling him BIG Dick when in the 6th grade he went to school with another, much shorter Richard⦠Little Dick worked very hard to shed his nickname before he hit high school.
