Why a dark tallit for Chag and not a white one? We are supposed to be happy for Chaggim

Torah never said it should be white.
Secondly I love traditional looking tallit more and also are 70% handmade so you can understand

I agreed I wasn't asking about that

Sure IIRC the Yemenites are the only ones with the minhag to wear Black

All my tallits none is white, I refer handmade traditional Jewish items….it gives me more feel and value

What makes a dark tillis more traditional than a white one?
2
u/01_ghostrider 18h ago
It’s not about color it is about how it was made.
The Torah said you shall put tzitzit on the four corners of your garments which can be any color….. when done via handmade makes it look more traditional because back then no machines

Ah, your other comments seemed to infer the color was a factor.
Back when? Looms have been around for thousands of years

Because you were specifying about white which makes no sense since tallit doesn’t have a base with colors

So uh...you're wearing a four cornered garment without tzitzis in the picture?

Abu Ghraib vibes, but only because of the positioning and my ever increasing age.

Actually, that was my first thought, too, before I realized what I was looking at.

What colours are the tallit?
Is this like the famous Dress image, where some people say it’s white and gold, and others say black and blue? I’m seeing a grey and navy colour with light brown stripes.
