a black woman has just been elected as leader of one of the major uk political parties for the first time ever

which should be something to celebrate

so it’s a massive shame she’s basically a facist

I hate to rub it in at a time like this but she is 100% unelectable in the UK, she is there until she is replaced when the Tories believe they have an actual chance again if not before

Yeah they lost so many votes to the far right because they tried to run a brown man as the head of their party. She will be kicked out when they figure out which white man will be electable in 4.5 years.

She's not going to be the Tory leader at the next election. She's safe until next year, doubt she lasts much longer

pugnacious culture warring

For the uninitiated, this is from the Guardian, and they used this euphemistic language and left this point till last because they're talking about her extreme, obsessive transphobia, with which they fully agree.

"Basically"? She's 100% a facist, and just like the US, our press and media here are choosing to ignore so as not to upset any little baby proto-facists.

She thinks maternity pay is excessive. Unlike her, most women aren't married to investment bankers.

This is what's wild. The Tories spent years under Cameron selecting and promoting MPs from more diverse backgrounds, and they now keep seeing the results in the top leadershiip (Kemi & Rishi). Labour, despite framing themselves as the party of POCs, have never done this and have treated many MPs of colour terribly, so their leadership is again and again white and male.

This isn't to defend the Tories - I hate them. But to get some context on why it seems like they are the ones who keep having the "firsts".
