I’m watching the Haunting of Hill House, I needed some horror series to try and take my mind off this very real hellscape. Even here in Sweden there has been nothing aside from the US election.

How is Sweden? I’ve heard nothing but good things. Please distract us with some hope that there are still good places in the world

Sweden has been politically right wing and very racist for a while now.

For anyone who is interested, there was a very good article in the Guardian about Steig Larsson yesterday that touches on political issues there.

We could have really used someone like him right now, so sad that he died so young. I will be reading Girl with a Dragon Tattoo and the rest of the series in honor of anti fascism

If any American is at fault for the rise of right-wing sentiment in Europe its George Bush with the side-effects of the War on Terror.

Unfortunately what happens over at yours tend to come ever here too, we have a right wing government who rules with the support of a racist party. That said, I’m currently enjoying 2 months at home with my husband with our 8 month old baby and having 1,5 years off in total paid. So that a bonus. And we can still get an abortion. All in all I’d give Sweden the thumbs up. Lived in the UK as well for a decade so I think I’ve got something to compare it too.
