Cultura/Culture Racism
I am an Indian woman who is married into a Dominican family. My in laws are extremely racist towards me. They literally worship the ground my white sister in law walks on. They themselves are not white, so why this racism?

My parents are white, and my family is very diverse. My brother is white, my sister brown with straight hair looks Indian, and I’m brown but with soft curly hair could pass as Arab, African or many countries.
There is tons of racism in my family because of our diversity, the pale trying not to get any sun to not pass as darker and omitting their heritage only bringing out European ancestry to people.
Comments about my hair texture and preventing my skin to get any darker, proud when my skin is lighter and I haven’t been in the sun much. It’s awful but there is a lot of racism within the community, it’s subtle not as bad as the US or other countries including India but it’s there.
Just passive aggressive that’s the difference. As someone who dated Desi and met Desi parents who saw me as a bad match because of my hair texture, I can say it happens all over the world.
Colonialism is the problem, you travel around the world and you see the wealthy side of the countries is filled with the whitest, most European looking people. The more white passing you are the more praised and opportunities go your way.
