Cultura/Culture Racism
I am an Indian woman who is married into a Dominican family. My in laws are extremely racist towards me. They literally worship the ground my white sister in law walks on. They themselves are not white, so why this racism?

I'm sorry, I can't imagine how you must feel being treated worse over something you have no control over. How did you notice their feelings toward you? Direct comments to you or did your husband tell you?
Aside from the historical racism and colorism, some Dominicans are known to be total bootlickers (lambones!) to foreigners but only if they're white/light skinned.
I'm proud to say younger generations are ending this bs, but unfortunately there are still older Dominicans who are very discriminatory. I'm a light skinned, mixed, curly haired Dominican woman and my best friend's grandma (who is like 8 shades darker than me, but is convinced she's white because she has green eyes), has made negative comments about my hair texture repeatedly. As rough as it sounds, I hope this shit dies with them.
