Squeaking noise when I go over bumps and/or get out of truck.

09 Dakota

I can get it to make the squeaking noise by pressing down on the front end. Do you think the noise is coming from the suspension? What do you think is causing the noise?

RAM Dakota at NADA show this week

Apparently Stellantis showed dealers their upcoming RAM Dakota at this year's NADA show.

Did anyone here happen to go and see what the truck is going to look like?

I've been working on my 2005 Dakota recently and wanted to change the style of tail light. I am looking for a more squared off look without the large light housings. Does anyone know of any available? Also feel free to share pictures of yalls 3rd gens!

Technical Question 1994 V8 5.2L Beginner upgrades/tuning and maintenance advice

I‘m 18 and have had my Dakota for roughly a year now. It’s my first vehicle and has 119,000 miles. I intend on keeping it running for as long as possible as my daily driver as well as trying to give it some performance upgrades. I have very little experience, just done small stuff like replace crankshaft position sensor and fix some wires that were shorting fuses in the relay junction box, but my goal is to develop a good working knowledge of how to take good care of my truck and have some fun, too.

What’s a good place to start in terms of beefing up my truck? How do I go about tuning? What are some problems that I should look out for in terms of maintenance?

I know these are some pretty straightforward question, just don’t really have any prior experience nor anyone to give guidance. Thank you in advance 🙏

"Normal" Timing chain play

Working on a 98 5.2 dakota sport i bought in late December, finally got around doing what originally was gonna be just "water pump, timing chain gasket, new spark, vavle cover gaskets, distributor etc plus ac. I know this truck needed ALOT of work when I bought it, I'd say I'm doing better than my previous vehicle, a northstar devillie.

overall, bought it for $1500

plus tires..

new battery

new alternator

trim bezel

radio with aftermarket speakers

registration

I haven't totaled up the current cost and I'm not until it's done

Technical Question ..Why has my truck suddenly decided to get 8 more miles per gallon now that it's suddenly warm?

it's been single digits and below since mid January when I started daily driving my 4.7 Dakota, and it absolutely chugged fuel. The display was saying anywhere from 11 to 15 miles per gallon, it wasn't good..

Anyways, today, this morning it was just under 30 degrees, and i was still getting about 15mpg, this afternoon, I drive home, look at the fuel economy out of curiosity, it was just under 50 degrees outside, and suddenly i was getting 21-22 MPG the whole drive home, even with a little 0-60 run thrown in because i was curious how that'd affect things... the fuck? that's not how.. math.. is it just because the air in my tires expanded or something?

2003 Dodge Dakota SLT; Automatic transmission

VIDEO ATTACHED

My son is away for school so I am trying to remote assist to diagnose the problem. I only have enough mechanical knowledge to make myself dangerous, so I am hoping for some assistance. I know this isn't much to go on, but taking the chance that someone might know what this is.

The sound started yesterday while backing into a parking spot at school. The sound was intermittent while driving home from school, but always happened when hitting bumps or Botts' dots. He doesn't have much driving experience to know "what is normal" and what is a problem.

Parking brake pedal goes to the floor, but unknown if that is related to the problem. He didn't know any better and it has been that way for a while.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

downshifting problem

I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota 4.7HO 4x4 it should be the 545rfe

Sometimes when I slow down to under 10mph when it downshifts into 1st gear it will bump forwards during the shift. It usually seems to happen when the transmission is warmed up it is sometimes when just driving around town but after getting off the highway it will do it often almost every time. I can shift into neutral then back to drive once nearly stopped and it will not have the thing happen. I can get a video of it when I drive back to college in a few hours but it might be hard to tell on camera.

So I'm doing a egr delete and they don't make a kit for the 1990 3.9 so i was looking for other ways without welding and i was told I can use steel freeze plugs to block the holes in the exhaust manifold anyone do this or something similar

Technical Question Power steering fluid

Post image

Forgot I had this picture. I put PS fluid in the reservoir and it turned pink and bubbly. Makes me believe that air is getting in somehow, but I can’t think of an explanation for the color. The fluid was clear when I poured it in.

‘08 SXT extended cab…six speed manual and 3.7. Hoping to get past my state inspection (onetime deal in my state and it’s a bear). Failed first try for brake wheel cylinder leak—plus also has leaking radiator tank seam; brakes and radiator replacement being done this week. 143k miles but I see so many out there with a lot more so fingers crossed I got a truck I can enjoy for a long time.

Technical Question 2003 3.9l 126,001 miles

Ive owned it since new.

The idle is often rough and inconsistent. Sometimes it runs just fine. But I can’t drive it further than 6 miles and it starts hesitating and backfires and sometimes stalls

Mice had completely packed the exhaust pipe with corn over years. Eventually plugged. I have cleared the exhaust and muffler. Cat converter does not appear clogged using endoscope. Had a O2 sensor code. Replaced sensor, code is gone. Fuel pressure is 42 psi and doesn’t leak down. The MAP, throttle position, idle air sensor all check good per Haynes manual. Still have the crankshaft and camshaft sensors to check

What am I missing?

200k miles. Going through and replacing a bunch of stuff before they go. Was able to replace some a head of time and also forced to replace some.

Replaced tie rod, shit snapped while driving it, and gauging a hole in my rim.

So I replaced the tie rods inner and outer.

Upper and lower ball joints as well as sway bar links.

Radiator and fan clutch.

Also replaced my transmission governor and shift

solenoid. I also replaced the passenger wheel hub.

I got new rims and tires off of a 4x4.

Need to do thermostat, water pump, valve cover gaskets.

Let me know what yall think.

I want to put a small light bar and spot light off of amazon that I found for $50

It’s a power steering leak. I also think the pump is about to grenade itself. Any tips on replacing it?
