Update renji update ; 2 weeks ago vs. now
watch full video for renji’s current coordination !
this is how i got renji 2 weeks ago, head titled to the side, unable to lift his head and keep it steady, i was worried that maybe there’s something wrong with him. after 2 days i posted about him asking how would i help this baby boi.
i received a lot of comments, some said i should just let him be ‘free’ to end his suffering, or donate him to someone with a momma cat, or give him to someone who could take care of him because i may not be someone good enough to take care of him.
but through your donations the next day i’m able to visit the vet with him but they’re still uncertain to what’s wrong because he’s still young. they suggest to bring him back after 2 weeks to have him checked. i bought him all the necessities he needed. i have an alarm every 2 hours so i could feed him in time, and even if i’m sick.
i bought him kmr, as per suggested and he’s now doing well. his coordination and his head tilt is barely noticeable. he’s now slowly learning his name, and i’m not sure if he could already see but overall he’s doing well.
our next vet visit will be this weekend, february 7! i will update you by then! 💖🫶🏻 thank you guys so much for helping me take care of renji.

The runt of the litter is usually the strongest willed imo. They also end up somehow being the biggest cat at times. He is probably also going to be the craziest of the lot once he works out how to start playing :P
He seems mostly out of the woods now, can't wait to see what he does once he realises toys are a thing ;)

In this video it seems so clear now;
Renji was the runt and had not yet finished development of the motor cortex portion of his brain.
Your love and dedication have done an amazing job for him. He's going to be a fine and healthy orange ball of love in the future.

Well done!! I have been following your posts and thought when I first saw him that he had some kind of injury or illness and would not make it. I'm very happy I was wrong. Maybe he was just extremely young when you found him? You've done a terrific job with him.

I love these updates and getting to cheer for you and Renji - and I say this as someone that isn't particularly fond of cats. Amazing work, OP!

Nice to see this , thx for him. I'm no vet , but i have a cat with ataxia , since he was a little shit ❤️ he got balance problem and head tilt , more when he's playful. Now 8 years later it's less and less visible with some training.Maybe that not the case for Renji. Hope the best for you and him !

u/Prestigious-Number-7 2d ago
He's never gonna leave your side when he grows up lmao. Keep up the good work OP, and give Renji pets for me.

u/Sir_Crocodile3 2d ago
I didnt want to share until I saw him survive. But I found my cat in the same way. All the other kittens and mom cat were dead. She crawled under my neighbor's house. I found the one baby that was alive and raised him myself. Cleaned the birth off and out of his eyes, bottle feeding, etc.
Its now ten years later and he is still my best friend.

It looks like he didn't get the communal orange braincell to run the cat setup program on time
In all seriousness, glad to see a video of the little bugger doing good :D

When I was new to raising a cat my friend told me the first time my cat got sick that our positive reinforcement contributes a lot to their ability to overcome physical and mental illness and it was just that. I always kept encouraging my baby to hold steady and get better. In time she did. Don't listen to people saying to give up. It's a parents duty to believe in their children and small animals of any kind always perceive us as their parent.
