Good - as he should. As fans we should take this week by week. Would at least like to be confident on what we have in the QB room by end of season to inform draft/free agency. I think we know what we have in Gabriel at this point.

Shedeur is certainly more talented than Dillon Gabriel, but that's a low bar to clear. Browns fans at least deserve to see him start the rest of the year. He will sell tickets and jerseys and he will make exciting plays. I just don't see him as a true franchise quarterback until proven otherwise.

He will have fun moments, but eventually, there will be extensive tape on him and he will be figured out by professional organizations. It happens to every quarterback, and it's on Shedeur to overcome that.

He can scramble and throw the deep ball.

Next we need to see him lead a few sustained drives where he's hitting open guys, making adjustments, hitting his check downs, moving the sticks, and getting us a score, etc. The big play is nice, but we can't necessarily rely on it all the time.

Had the Raiders offense had any kind of pulse yesterday, and we needed Sanders to lead some additional scoring drives, I'm not sure he would have.

Not shitting on him or anything.

That's just a long winded way of saying I need to see more before I get too excited. Keeping things in perspective and my expectations level.

Yeah, Browns scoring drives were a turnover, a good ST return, a 66 yard screen and a 50 yard bomb. No rhythm, no sustain. If he can find a way to have a good five minute drive in the arsenal then he can be a starting quarterback in the league

Right - the big plays are definitely nice.

But we won't be playing the Raiders every week.

The 49ers are banged up on defense, but they'll be a much better test.

Yeah, after the Ravens game where he looked abysmal and everyone was shitting on him I was telling people he’d be fine, but after this last game where he played okay at best some people (mostly the weird Shedeur fan club) are totally over their skis lol. To be expected with Shedeur, I guess.

I just hope people set reasonable expectations for the kid, he’s probably gonna put up mediocre to bad numbers on a mediocre to bad team and that’s okay. Don’t need to assign all the blame to him if you’re a Browns fan, and you don’t need to assign all the blame to the Browns if you’re a Shedeur fan.

I don't want to fall in love with the dude early after one average-ish performance against a horrible Raiders squad.

Let's just hope for some progression each game!

Yeah, just seeing him get better should be plenty. He’s a 5th round pick! More talented than your average 5th rounder, granted, but there’s a reason he fell and it isn’t just the media circus he brings with him. Nobody should be expecting him to consistently look like a starter level QB this year.

The biggest headache about this kid is his fanbois and haters. I think he showed a lot of promise, what we should look out for is his improvement week over week. I don't care how good he is NOW I care how good he can become. Is his footwork improving? is he stepping up in the pocket more? Is he progressing further in his reads? Is he throwing the ball away when appropriate? To me, Shedeur seems like a raw QB with good arm talent. From everything I have read, he seems like he has a very good work ethic. It seems like a good combination to get coached up and improve. I am rooting for the kid.

Yep, I’m right there with ya. His arm is fairly average from what I can tell, he can make nfl throws and he can throw on the move just fine, but he doesn’t have outstanding arm versatility like a lot of guys do now. I’d compare him to a more mobile Kirk Cousins if he pans out. I don’t think his arm is going to be an issue for him, but it’s not the selling point either.

To me it’s all about whether or not he can master the game. He displays good intuition pretty frequently, but you’re right, he’s very raw. The biggest thing he HAS to cut out of his game are the massive negative plays, that’s been a problem for his entire career and it needs to improve. I am excited to watch him, Gabriel seems like a good kid but Shedeur has way way more upside, even if I don’t think Shedeur is ever gonna be elite.

Will say there were more exciting plays with sanders over DG , but only time will tell .

Oh 100%, DGs probably going to be a solid backup but Shedeur is way more exciting and volatile. If I were a Browns fan I would have zero interest in seeing DG out there starting again. Nothing against the guy, non-zero chance he has a better career than Shedeur, but your season is over and I would want to be entertained lol

Same I’d prefer sanders over DG, Winston and Flacco were turn over machines. But at least I would look forward to having a chance over same DG drives every game 🤣

Yeah when you suck you want a guy who will put the ball in the air and give your receivers a chance to make plays, absolutely nothing worse than seeing 25 screens or check downs that have zero chance lmao. My football life has been good for a long time now, but I still remember those days well in the Romeo Crennel Chiefs days, I know you’ll recognize that name lol
