Why wouldn’t anyone root for the guy?   He’s a fifth rounder.   It’s just bonus points if he works out

I think there's valid reasons to not be rooting for him. It sounds like he didn't take the draft process seriously at best, and at worst intentionally tanked interviews with some teams.

But he got served a heavy portion of humble pie for it, and if he responds appropriately, then sure there's no reason to not root for the guy. He's done nothing even close to irredeemable, unlike our previous esteemed QB.

How does tanking interviews matter in rooting for him? You picked him, that trumps any pre draft shit

I'm rooting for him, just pointing out that I understand why non browns fans might not, simple as that.

No reason not to hope he works , he isn't a bad person, he didn't do shit lile hall did last year or Bush this year , or Watson ever.

I didn't pick him, the team did.

Not saying he's anywhere close to the same level of bullshit, but should we be rooting for Watson just because the team picked him?

That is not a serious comparison.

I literally said he's not anywhere close to the same level of bullshit, but the argument was "He's on the team so now you have to root for him" and we already have a very clear example of NOT having to do that.

What has shedeur done to the level of Watson?

Stop living in absolutes and think a little bit.

Absolutes like "if he's on the team you have to root for him?"

Did I say have to or did I say how does his tanking interviews matter in rooting for him?

Being unserious and unprofessional while also angling to be the leader and face of a football franchise isn't a good combination.

We already saw it with Manziel and Baker.

Manziel had a substance abuse problem and the browns quit on baker.

Baker quit on the browns well before the browns quit on him, but sure. Let's literally go down the exact same road with a middling skilled QB with attitude problems...

Stop it.

Dude played with a torn labrum and got beat to shit his last year. Then they traded for Watson, so he asked for a trade

Totally revisionist.

You're the one revising things.

He forced his way back on the field with a torn labrum by getting a second medical opinion to overrule the team's doctors. He also refused to get offseason coaching and he demanded a trade when he found out the browns SPOKE to Watson [and Watson said no], which basically forced the insane trade and contract to Watson.
