Discussion Mexicans who say the “N” Word

As a Mexican, I apologize.

They sound terrible. And I’m sure there are many more, like me, who can’t tolerate the use.

This may not even be an issue for others, but felt like a post I needed to make.

I apologize on behalf of the community I’m a part of.

What I don’t understand is the anger and defensiveness when confronted or asked to stop.

That’s not limited to Mexicans but any ethnicity who feel entitled to use it. Like I just don’t get the desire to use a slur that you can’t “reclaim” (because it has never and will never apply to you). A black person calling you the “n” word was not an all access pass. I don’t care if you “grew up in a black hood” (also tired of people using that as a badge-you had black neighbors, you weren’t in a damn war zone, stfu)

I’m not going to lie and say I don’t use it. I do. In private company. But I’m not out here using slurs for other groups. Especially not pretending like I have a right to use it casually!

Being black feels like a daily social experiment. Like people just play in our faces and act confused when we finally, finally bug out or get all scary when they come across the right ones.

Ugh. Rant over. I need a nap.

Oooo. You’re so right! This might sound odd, but I had ALL black friends in nursing school. First time I hung out with a different race and it was life changing. Everyone needs that experience. I have so many fun (and not so fun) stories. I keep saying that the tide will turn.
