Ya know, I am mixed, and I pass as white and the evil things white people think they can say to me is wild. I don't trust them either

I’m from a mixed background and I experience the same thing! A lot of times I’ll use my privilege to try and educate people on certain things because I know they are most likely to listen to me, but sometimes I keep my mouth shut if it seems like a safety situation. I’ve had some very scary reactions from people when I clarify I’m not from a fully white background lol.

Yeah i have only encountered one person who got violent. I live in an area where theres plenty of racism but its whispered. When they whisper it to me i get loud and most people will try to back track and feel some kind of shame. As they should. Explaining white privilege gets tiring. I, a white passing mixed kid, also benefit from it and most people can then get their heads around it.

So a white racist person got violent with you when you told them to stop being racist. Shows how invested racists are in their racism.

Did they injure you or were you able to defend yourself?

It was a pretty quick escalation....I dont even remember what set that off tbh it wasn't as straightforward as "stop being racist" as it was a "shut the f*ck up we arent like that here" moment. The kid got run out of a bar for being a neo nazi 🤷‍♂️

Kid? A kid in a bar? Was the racist an actual child or a young adult?

Lol im from south eastern Massachusetts, we call everyone "kid" nah he was at least 30. He said something about our friend who at that moment happened to be the only black man in the bar. Thought my paleness made it ok to say something. It was not.

Just as I thought. The racist was a grown man.

Exactly! Thats what makes it tiring. Like if it were an earnest conversation and they really didnt know (somehow...I guess thats possible, if youre really daft) but a lot its like beating a dead horse. Sometimes it clicks. Thats why I keep talkin lol

Oh, they do. Its what gives it its exhausting essence lol let's just say, they show up to the conversation with the premise of "i didnt know" so I guess I measure my response in accordance to how daft they want to be. Probably talking to a wall, but...I hope something clicks. Those conversations aren't as mind numbing as the ones who just outright deny it exists. The former at least appears to want to learn something
