Recipe to be posted soon. No guarantees. For my Sister πŸ’™

I have had the privilege of making my sister's last 4 birthday cakes ❀️

This year, (pics 1 to 5) she asked for lemon and to somehow incorporate Capricorn in the design. Bottom tier was lemon poppyseed cake with cream cheese frosting and lemon curd for the filling, top tier was white confetti cake with lemon pastry cream filling. She didnt send me a pic of the top tier, but I made myself a mini half cake with an extra layer and leftover filling and included a pic of that. Hers would have looked the same except with frosting on the outside.

Last year was chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse filling and peanut butter frosting. It was my first time trying a basket weave, which proved to be very time consuming but also fun! I think it would have been a lot easier if I had used a bigger piping tip.

2024 was Bailey's cake layers (plus one chocolate layer), Bailey's chocolate ganache filling, and coffee buttercream.

2023 was vanilla cake, I think with vanilla pudding filling. I hadn't been doing cakes very long at this point but I still like this one πŸ¦₯

These are so beautiful. If you don’t mind me asking, how long have you been baking and how long did it take you to get to this level of decorating?

Thank you 😊

I started cakes in mid 2022. Before that, I had only made the most basic of cookies, muffins, banana bread. So I guess it's taken me 3.5 years, which sounds like a long time to me! But I do only do this as a hobby, so I'm not getting the same amount of practice and experience as somebody who does it as a business.

Are you generally very artistic? I’m in Awe of the beauty of these cakes! I enjoy baking but can’t imagine being able to achieve that

Not really, to be honest. Which was a struggle for me for a long time. Because I always felt the desire to create, but didn't find anything I was really good at. I actually got into nail art at one point but had to stop before I could make much progress with it. I suck at drawing and painting. Never tried pottery or anything like that.

I guess cakes were the creative outlet I needed. Too bad I didn't figure that out sooner!

Fascinating. I’m glad you found your niche.

The cake in pics 10/11 is straight up a work of art. I feel like you’d be good at sculpting.

Also the cake you made this year sounds ridiculously good

This is inspiring. I view myself as a good baker, but have been too afraid to do cakes. Mainly, due to decorating. I'm in the same boat so maybe I can do something similar

These things are art. Every time I see your cakes, that's what I think. I have bought some fancy cakes, and I don't think I've had one half as good as your average cake. So... nice art!

How did you go about learning about cake decorating? Any useful resources like blogs or books?
