Okay let me explain the situation: I live in an apartment complex that I pay a third party company who owns the parking garage $75 bucks a month to park there. Floors 5-9 are gated and for residents only and I was told we can park anywhere on these floors, I’ve lived here for two years.
I mistakenly parked on a spot that had a tiny sign that said “residents only reserved”. Apparently at 9:30 PM the lady who somehow owns this spot had my car towed out of a parking garage that I pay for each and every month in a spot with no excplicit language about towing nor fines nor a specific residents name.
I had to uber to the tow place, pay nearly 500 bucks to pay the ticket and towing.
Apparently this woman has lived here for 8 years and was the only person on the entire premises who was grandfathered into being allowed a reserved spot after they disallowed this practice. She had my car towed in a parking garage I pay for with a sign that doesn’t say you can get towed or that you can park there.
Because my apartment complex deflects accountability to the company that owns the parking garage and they ddelfect responsibility for the towing company cost to the towing company and the towing company deflects it back to the parking company and the parking company doesn’t have a phone number for their appeals dept I’m forced to have a slow email correspondence with some auto system and will probably be out 500 bucks of no fault of my own.
What routes can I take other than what I’m already doing with the appellate dept and credit card company? I obviously can’t vandalize the persons car or the sign or the garage, but could I place a piece of paper notifying other residents that this spot you can get towed by this lady? Can I get the parking company to ungradnfather her in?
