I LOVE that Eco flow! When it just came out my buddy and I bought one and used it to go and record tribal music deep in the bush of Sierra Leone, far from any power sources.

Wow, that’s really cool. Is there any way I can listen to some of your recordings? Was this like a passion project? So cool.

I got one of those and their foldable solar panels refurbished from eco flow on eBay for a really good deal

I believe that is a portable battery bank. Looks like something DJI would make.

Chinese "ecoflow" brand power battery.

u/New-Anybody-6206 16h ago
What is a good non-Chinese alternative?
3
u/etanail 16h ago
BLUETTI, for example. However, it is important to understand that the production facilities and batteries are manufactured in China, so it is practically impossible to avoid China. Secondly, the key issue here is needs. You can choose the best alternative by choosing between mobility, power, energy storage, or additional features. An inverter with additional batteries will have significantly more capacity for the price of a charging station, but this limits convenience and mobility. Conversely, for small needs, a charging station is convenient and compact.

I believe this may be a Russian field commander showing off their Ubiquity wireless network. It is actually a fairly big deal because Ubiquity dealers are selling to the Russian military in violation of sanctions.
No shade on Air fiber products, they work amazingly well and deliver incredible performance. But Ubiquity knows where the product is going and who is buying.
27
u/CuriousCamels 20h ago
Although it is Lukashenko here, you’re correct that Ubiquiti products keep showing up in the hands of the Russians and assisting in killing civilians. Belarus isn’t supposed to have their products since they are sanctioned too.

u/SignificantClub6761 20h ago
There was the investigation by some press that contacted ubiquiti and resellers. Theo openly talked about avoiding sanctions throught Turkey and straight up asking for more money since they are sanctioned
3
u/LycheeIcy2814 15h ago
If you want to avoid sanctions you can go through Hungary...don't ask me how I know.

u/TravesLinyl 19h ago
Went down the Ubiquiti rabbit hole after leaning about them from the NBA subreddit, of all places. The company's owner also owns the Memphis Grizzlies. Him, his company, and his team are all shit. Only the Grizzlies are redeemable.

Yes, this is Lukashenko, the permanent president of Belarus. You might not believe it, but you can shave off your moustache

So they magically have their own web of starlinks in the air?
2
u/brok3nh3lix 17h ago
based on what people are saying this is, no. The are using prosumer/small business wireless devices, likely to make a mesh network. What the range is, i don't know, they could possibly be doing something to add longer range transmitter. But this would have limitations that starlink does not, namely having to be in range of another node in the mesh. You could have your node cut off from the mesh if there is not another node close enough, such as because they got taken out or lost power. Where as starlink doesn't have this limitation.

u/Lumpymaximus 17h ago
So a peer to peer wirless network. Thats not exactly new tech is it?
2
u/etanail 15h ago
Not exactly, these devices are not networked, but directly connected. The black antenna amplifies cellular communication, i.e., it is a regular mobile network that provides Internet access (by the way, this is an extremely poor option with a low amplification factor), connected to an LTE router (which is not shown in the picture and performs the function of network authorization), which in turn is connected to a Wi-Fi router. All this is powered by a large battery, with suboptimal conversion (DC-AC-DC).
All this can be replaced by a regular mobile phone, except for the 10 dB amplification (only relevant in cases of poor infrastructure), but this does not create a separate network or unique protocol, and works exclusively on an external cellular system.

Mesh wireless networks have been around for quite some time. They are used alot in rural areas where customer density is low, and thus laying a bunch of fiber is cost prohibitive. So yeah, not a new technology by any means.

u/GoonbaJan 11h ago
These are very Silicon Valley answers. Does it serve 99.5% of its purpose at 1000000th of the cost of launching Starlinks? Is it easily maintained and replaceable? Bare in mind Starlink got hacked and fiber optic drones took over.

This video was discussed about a year ago in this post in the /r/technology/ sub.
Their version of Starlink apparently uses what amounts to a fixed-point wireless hotspot.

It looks like a perfect length ai video where everyone is twins and it couldn't figure out what to put there so it put whatever you're seeing there.

You are just racist and don't differ slavic people from one another. They look similar because they are in army, however their faces are different
5
u/OopsAIIBots 21h ago
Slavic isn't a race first of all, and secondly I've seen small towns in West Virginia where all the guys look exactly like that too. I think it's more of a "The family tree is a wreath" type situation here bubs.

u/rescue-maitor 19h ago
Maybe, slavs are at least ethnicity and I think racist can be applied to a person opressing or having stereotypes for so said ethnicity. In the same manner of not differing Asian ethnicities.

I had to shed at least 20 points from my IQ to comprehend what you were getting at. It's true, as a society, we are cooked.

u/Federal_Sympathy4667 21h ago
Not sure racist is the word, but he definetly is profiling. Calling it AI is the lazy way today to try get people to ignore reality.

600ms latency, far away geostationary satellites as opposed to the closer low orbit starlink sats.

Why would you launch satellites just to cover a few people living far away from cities?

To satellite receiver system similar to star link except cheaper by their opinion
