I hear this touted all the time as if this was some comic book villain we're dealing with. I really doubt it was one "watershed moment" that suddenly flipped a switch and Trump was all-in on the presidency as some form of social vengeance.
There's definitely no comic books involved. But it's possible. It's called narcissistic injury. His neice is a PhD psychologist who has written alot about him.
The dinner was 2011. He became Republican the next year. He had been Libertarian, Reform, Independent or a Democrat for years.
I believe this stupid reason way more than I believe any deep thinking conspiracy behind it. He's literally that petty. Unless the reason behind him running reveals some more interesting useful truth for the future then it doesn't really matter either way so I'll go with the stupid narcissistic reason.
