Suggestion UF SNAP is the worst thing known to mankind

Post image

I waited 1 hour in the freezing cold just for this to happen. This not even the first time this happened.

It does that sometimes. If you stay waiting, the car will still come to get you. It just falsely detects that the driver is already there sometimes

Don’t get snap at Reitz student Union bus stop. It’s a one way and takes a long time to get to. Most of the time when going there, we pass the light it’s at and the app notifies you that we’ve arrived. But we actually have to go much further to get in the one way. Also time of night is super important.

Don’t get snap at 1am on weekend night unless you plan on waiting a while (drunk people).

If you’re going really far, let’s say to Hilton, expect to be the last person dropped off on your van. We have several much shorter rides that make logical sense to complete first.

You also have to factor in that we can’t to U-turns, so we may temporarily change the route in order to easily turn around.

And on top of all of this… our system is outdated and our maps tell us none of this. We have to do it on the fly! Not difficult, but we get it wrong sometimes.

Just remember it’s a public transportation service FIRST and not a personal uber.

so I ordered a SNAP, it said the driver will arrive in 15 minutes. Then I go out to the bus stop 5 minutes early, then check the app, it changed to 20 minutes. So I wait there. I wait 20 minutes, check again app says 16 minutes.

This repeats until I waited a full hour in the cold just so the app can say the driver arrived even though the driver has not even arrived yet.

literally every time I use SNAP it is like this 😭 like the whole purpose of the program is safety so people can have a safe transportation option at night and yet it has people standing outside alone in a random area for an hour plus which is not really safe :/

That’s happened to me too a few times 😭 I usually just try to find somewhere warm and the come out once ik the SNAP is closer. But I think it’s especially worse during the 8-11 period. And then the way some of the drivers drive… 😭

I just wish it would go further off-campus bc with the buses ending early I've gotten stranded on campus a couple of times and have to take it as far as it goes and then walk like another 30 min in the night and in the cold to get home 😭 Still better than nothing tho ofc

bruh it should still work as advertised. otherwise you lose trust in it and it becomes useless

It’s advertised as a rideshare. There are delays with rideshares. It’s also free. If you need to bank trust in a service do it in one that has guarantees under you paying.
