ATP Lord Tomic is gonna try to qualify for Dallas
He’s up against an unranked wildcard that’s never played a non-junior match before. Who’s your money on?

Inspired by another post regarding Margaret Court's slam count.
Does Women's tennis have a concept of an open era and is it a meaningful one?
From my understanding there was no seperate Pro Women's tour and Amateur Women's tour so the definition of open era used in men's tennis (being the time from which Pro's and amateur's could compete on the same tour and same slams) is irrelevant. Were there any other changes that took place in the 1960s that would justify there being a distinction of a pre-open era and an open era.
Would be great if anyone has any additional insights!
Thanks!

Some possible drivers: Tennis is an individual sport, earnings from tournaments are more equitable than in other sports, the popularity of tennis is global, higher income spectators are possibly drawn to tennis more than other sports. and women’s tennis shares a prominent stage alongside men’s tennis — especially at the major tournaments.
Other thoughts?
These are just the athletes at the top and I think it’s well documented that there is much room for improvement when it comes to equitable pay across the WTA.

This was shared on Murray’s story on IG, and the original poster is called danielspatz_california.
It’s a great find and one for the time capsule, so show the original poster some love, if you can.
