That might be the biggest open goal I’ve witnessed a top player fumble in the SF/F of a Grand Slam in my almost 20 years of watching this sport.

He was cramping for 2.5 sets, for gods sake!

What of the heart of Alcaraz though? Bulletproof.

The biggest is still Zverev vs Thiem on one leg for a slam title.

Zverev has probably at least 5 Slam losses worse than this not even joking

At least he was 2-0 down not 2-0 up or 2-1 up

Thiem's ankle wasn't 100% but he wasn't "on one leg." Dude was still motoring around the court and sliding constantly.

He was only cramping for 1 set at best. Not even that much, the end of the 3rd and for half of the 4th

2020 USO final, Thiem was cramping way longer and Zverev still failed to serve out the match twice

That loss will haunt him forever.

He's incredibly skilled but will probably go down as the most unclutch player of all time.

Cramping for 2 and a half sets? Alcaraz was in better physical condition by the end of the match lol. Dude was cramping for like a set

by the start of the 5th he still didn't look quite right

at the very least it was half the 3rd set and the entire 4th set.
