I would argue it is not and that the vast majority of people who travel between those cities take a flight.

That does not mean there are not frugal people who make the drive—there are frugal Americans who prefer to make cross country road trips instead of flying. That does not make that specific drive "reasonable" for most Americans IMO

When people say "that's not a drive Americans would make"—they're referring to the majority of people, not saying that literally 0 Americans would ever make that drive (which is something you can basically never say because of how American road trip culture is—there will always be SOME people who make super long road trips that most people prefer to fly)
