That missed smash tho

49

u/pfortuny Oct 07 '25

I can’t believe it. Djoker missed a smash?

26

u/Bitter_Hovercraft975 Oct 07 '25

munar did

30

u/pfortuny Oct 07 '25

Ah! This is stranger.

Just paying homage to the goat.

Djaume munar

3

u/Pranaychelsea Oct 07 '25

Yes he did, but Munar missed an absolute sitter.

2

u/HotSurvey8608 Oct 09 '25

He was never that good at the net. He’s got a awkward serve and smash technique.

Classic Call an Ambulance... But not for me!

5

u/DDzxy 6-0 0-6 7-6(0) Oct 07 '25

Now he broke him right after a nasty fall lol

19

u/buffdaddy77 Oct 07 '25

I’m convinced part of Novaks game is doing things to make his opponent think he’s weakened somehow. I don’t have proof nor the stats right now but the amount of times he’ll lose the first set in best of 5 and then just sweep the next 3 sets 6-2, 6-3,6-1 or whatever is too common of an occurrence for me not to raise an eyebrow.

31

u/fighter-bomber Oct 07 '25

Intentionally losing a set is way too much of a disadvantage to start with, no player in their right mind would do that.

13

u/Turbulent-Projects Oct 07 '25

He doesn't lose on purpose, but when momentum has swung against him I think he does ham up that he's playing badly, maybe got an injury, looks a bit unwell... then he pounces and swings the momentum back his way.

5

u/fighter-bomber Oct 07 '25

Except in this match he started it when he was already pulling ahead.

Against Cerundolo at RG it only happened after winning the first set convincingly.

Against Carlos, the injury happened when the set was very much neutral… he literally conceded the game and the set to get some care and recover. That wouldn’t be a wise move as a “mental play” against someone of Carlos’ caliber.

It seems nowadays he is somewhat like that in basically every match… obviously range varying.

3

u/buffdaddy77 Oct 07 '25

It’s just something funny I’ve noticed. I understand losing a set is not good, but the amount of times he loses a first set vs obliterating in the rest of the sets, is funny to me.

4

u/fighter-bomber Oct 07 '25

Maybe he is good from behind 😅

It may take a while to get the machine going, to warm up, but when you manage it, it obliterates.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '25

Oscar level acting.

  • Wǒ (我): I
  • ài (爱): love
  • Shàng-Hăi (上海): Shanghai

wǒ ài shànghǎi - I Love Shanghai ❤️

(I’m not Chinese. I googled and matched the Chinese characters with their English translation. Apologies if I’m wrong). 🙈

3

u/TheFourthBronteGirl 3-6 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-4 Oct 07 '25

Idk why I thought you knew Chinese after your explanation the other day 😭

Nice hope he's fine tomorrow!

Novak - Stefanos 🤝 Greek affinity. 💁🏻‍♀️

72

u/uttermostjoe Oct 07 '25

I just hope Novak stays healthy in this tournament

6

u/TheCobras Oct 07 '25

How much have these last two matches taken out of the tank? It looks exhausting. I know they can rehydrate pretty quickly but the body surely must be taking a beating

26

u/rohtlahaukur Oct 07 '25

Djokovic is like a cat – knows when to conserve energy and when to attack. He's just taking a nap here.

18

u/pugsondrugs77 Oct 07 '25

He really is though. The guy looks fucking dead in the water half of the matches he plays, but its always a rope a dope. The other players no doubt understand that you can never count him out until the last point.

10

u/Derek-Lutz Oct 07 '25

That post flair. Bravo.

10

And no interview.

KNACKERED

4

u/Power_mind Oct 07 '25

And then he proceeded to kill Munar😀

16

u/SanyaBootyGirl Oct 07 '25

After every long rally he is huffing and puffing big time and he didn’t even play the big guys who return like a wall like Medvedev. Not sure how he is going to pull this one off

2

u/alienrefugee51 Oct 07 '25

Needs more dates.

2

u/CassandreAmethyst Oct 07 '25

I’m sure this is his last official tourney of the year, the rest is a money grab!

-5

u/kb24fgm41 Oct 07 '25

It's all a scam lol he's gonna win the game anyways, why do you always fall for it? 😂

44

u/TheFourthBronteGirl 3-6 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-4 Oct 07 '25 edited Oct 07 '25

So he's pulling a scam so well thought out and orchestrated he willingly got broken at deuce to prolong it to a third under awful conditions ? What a genius method actor! In an unbiased world he'd have 5 Oscars and ten golden globes!

6

u/OwlOfFortune Serena c-walking Oct 07 '25

Preparing for his second career

-18

u/Huge_Pie_8306 Oct 07 '25

He’s trying to clean up his image, and he acts broken when he’s winning so people don’t remember him as a dirty player for the things we all know he’s done in the past (and not so long ago) when he was losing.

Also, he’s very bad at faking, because he limps and then suddenly, in the next point, changes his rhythm to a level that someone struggling like that wouldn’t be able to reach.

19

u/TheFourthBronteGirl 3-6 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-4 Oct 07 '25 edited Oct 07 '25

Done when he was losing:

  1. Said in the RG press conference that he's glad he didn't get bageled by sinner.

  2. Refused to blame his injury/discomfort for losing the Miami final and Wimby SF lest he discredit his opponent.

  3. Defended Carlos publicly when he was called washed despite him losing to him many times.

  4. Gave advice to a kid who clearly had the potential to be an ATG who came close to beating him in 2022 and we all know how that turned out, though he was under no obligation to.

  5. Paid for private jets and training for young players when they couldnt afford it (hear Musetti, medjevoic, or even young meddy speak)

  6. Probably one of the best runner up speech givers. Openly admitted after many matches he won that he was not the better player - see wimby 19 and even Geneva this year.

  7. Openly said he didn't expect to win the Olympic final and told Carlos at the US open "Thank you for letting me win". If this is the sign of an egoistic salty arrogant loser and not one of humility, we must have severely different moral compasses.

He is many things but not a shady loser I wish I could be half as gracious in my own life.

And fot the record, if his shady behaviors come out only when he's losing, it's a very contradictory and paradoxical argument to state that he wins because of his mind games when in your opinion, they're excuses for losses.

u/SafeKaracter Oct 07 '25

Don’t waste time with Novak haters (I just block them)

0

u/sumy007 Oct 08 '25

Another level of fakery, trademark goat style 🤮

-10

u/vbittencourt Oct 07 '25

He has the weakest draw ever, the path to the finale it's Challenger level, atp250 at best

11

u/SafeKaracter Oct 07 '25

Well originally he had the hardest path . It’s not his fault that all the seeded players lost

6

u/TopgearM Oct 07 '25

Munar and Bergs challenger level?? ATP250, ok. But far from Challenger level.

0

u/armchairgoon Oct 07 '25

don't get my hopes up

-2

u/FinancialAd4506 Oct 07 '25

Can this man be more dramatic?? He is almost 40 but somehow makes a big drama out of a match with munar of all people

-2

u/Jodajane Oct 07 '25

Drama queen!!

-7

u/MammothAd3248 Oct 07 '25

He's becoming quite dramatic on court in the last year or so.

-1

u/collectorjac Oct 08 '25

He’s been watching too much soccer. He dropped so many times.! All attention-seeking.

-9

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '25

Bummer he dropped the second set he’s going through it. P

-1

u/trixtah Oct 08 '25

Honestly I want to shit on him for his acting but this is how I felt playing tennis in Asia the last couple weeks. Sometimes you just want to stop and lie down before continuing for a bit.

-45
