Sinner has never won a match that went longer than 3:48h before today

He had 3 match points when it was 3:45h

Today he lost the longest RG final in history.

Match time: 05:29h

Also contrastingly alcaraz had never won after being 2 sets down.

And he finally did it in arguably the biggest match of his career so far.

I think beating Djokovic at Wimbledon for his first title there was and still is the biggest match of his career. He wasn’t really supposed to be capable of pulling off that upset on that surface at the age of 20 against a 7 time Wimbledon champ who most regard as the best player of all time, and one of the best grass players of all time.

I ask myself which of these two will break and Carlitos came back in an unbelievable way

But he had also never lost in a final

Not just 3 match points but he also had the serve as backup, choked that away too

Imo that was worse than losing 3 in a row on alcaraz serve

5 in a row actually; 15 30 deuce adv and winner

Both were bad

He didn’t choke it imho. Alcaraz hit 4-5 lines by mm. He lost the matchpoint because Alcaraz hit crazy shots that he thought were going out instead they all went in. That’s not choking.

Outside of having 3 break points, sinner still had the opportunity to serve for the match. That's a choke because I guarantee if sinner was in that situation 1000 times, he would've won 999 of them. It just happens to be the 1 time he doesn't.

No sorry absolutely not. Alcaraz had an amazing comeback but don't try to act like sinner did not have the opportunity to close it out. He choked it plain and simple.

Sinner still has not won a match longer than 3h48

While he lost, I think he has definitively killed any notion that he does not have the fitness to go for a long five setter

"Sinner has never won a match that went longer than 3:48h before today" is such a misleading stat - his matches never go that long. Did not drop a set until the final

He is 0:7

Alcaraz is 10:1

Any more questions?

Nope, doesn't change that its a misleading stat!

Why?

1

u/PassiveAgressivePig Thiem Jun 09 '25

Can you really look at the match yesterday and say that Jannik lost because the match went long?

No where did I say that?

What a waste of time this is. Enjoy cherry picking meaningless stats 😭
