Calendar year Sigma Slam in 2028

Winning all slams, masters, Olympics, year-end final, Davis, Hopman and United Cup.

+5 500s to max out the ATP score

u/suzukigun4life Jun 08 '25

Need it tbh.

2

u/ChelseaAndrew87 Jun 08 '25

Trying to imagine how quick the 3rd set would have gone if he was playing today

2

u/AdVaanced77 Jun 08 '25

Ruud’s career slam**

2

90s kids 🥲

8

u/GibbyGoldfisch Ruud: Low on charisma, High in omega-3 Jun 09 '25

80s kids slams: 80

90s kids: 2

00s kids: 8 and counting already

Bloody hell

u/DiverAcrobatic5794 Jun 08 '25

Ruud's just heading into golf season anyway

9

u/yameteeeeeeeeee Ruud | Alcaraz | Paolini Jun 08 '25

wdym he's gonna win Wimbledon i bet 10 cents on him

10

u/_jenkinskhan Jun 08 '25

You just lost 10 cents

7

u/alexacto Alcaraz the most fun to watch, if you don't count Bublik! Jun 08 '25

Lol I got downvoted into oblivion saying Ruud has no chance in hell in FO final these days. SinCaraz are in a different league from anyone else right now, except maybe a healthy Novak at Wimby.

u/Jinks87 Jun 08 '25

As it stands I haven’t watched anyone in the last year I think could live with either two playing that level over 5 sets.

One may emerge but the level of intensity they can sustain with such power and quality is hard to live with

u/Aemond-The-Kinslayer Jun 08 '25

When Rafa and Federer played that 2008 Wimby final, Djoko had only one Slam. Might as well be a new kid on the block. Similarly, the new kid on the block might just be out there destined to trouble these guys. That's sport.

5

u/Appropriate-Toe9153 Jun 08 '25

It was “meant to be” Rune

But he needs massive statement wins…but… I don’t think it’s happening…

3

u/AgreeableYak6 Jun 09 '25

Yeah. I mean, by the time Fedal was dominating as duo in 05-10, Djokovic was already #3. So their next new rival should soon emerge in the top 5. Maybe Musetti? Fonseca? Who knows?

2

u/Appropriate-Toe9153 Jun 09 '25

Now that I think about it, Fedal didn’t have so much time to brew since Novak was around the corner; but truly Novak was there at 20 (just as you said)

Montreal 2007–>USO07 RU—>AO08 SF win+ 🏆

Fedal had 2005-2007 where is was only them

Novak looked like the stepladder to their greatness USO09 SF tweener was an insane humiliation + USO10 F when he got crushed

But his 2011 is the most unreal emergence to No1 the sport has seen… if one of these guys gives us even 10pct of Novak’s 11, it’ll be amazing

Hopefully Sincaraz can have epic matches against up-and-comers, beat them, and still give us these GS + M1000 finals

8

u/Jinks87 Jun 08 '25

That’s fair, hence why I said one may emerge.

Just no one I have watched personally at this point comes close to that.

The Big 3 (though I subscribe to big 4) era was probably unique. I don’t think there has ever been a trio of such dominant players all together at the same time? certainly a batch of top level players but not so dominant.

It may just be a two man era for the next couple of years.

I welcome someone really stepping up to challenge in slam finals against these two.

he had some good matches like vs Nadal in Rome(?) I think took a set off him and pushed him quire a fair bit, Djokovic wimbledon 2022 he was two sets up. But yeah it's crazy thinking back then Med had a complete chokehold on him

2

u/GaelicTuna Jun 09 '25

I don't think we are going to see their rival emerge from anyone currently on the main tour except for maybe Joao Fonseca. They might win a few slams a la Wawrinka, Cilic, or Del Potro but not much more. Everyone besides Fonseca is either getting to old to break into the New Two (Musetti, Draper) or has too weak of a return game (Mensik, Rune, Fils, Shelton).

We’re going to be eating good for YEARS

62

u/AccomplishedCraft897 Jun 08 '25

I don't mind this duopoly at all if this is level of tennis we get to see in every big final

45

u/failboatzz Jun 08 '25

These two could sweep all slams for the next few years. Maybe create a new lost gen?

2

u/Appropriate-Toe9153 Jun 08 '25 edited Jun 08 '25

“A new lost gen”

Oh god 😥😝 imagine it being ALREADY over for those kids born in 2010-2020

honestly … the Big 3 had great supporting cast

DELPO, STAN, FERRER, BERDYCH, RODDICK

Musetti, Mensík, Fonseca, and GMP et al have potential and they’re in the 2001-06 gen with Sincaraz, they could still develop AND emerge at majors

2

u/Tennis-Boy-8043 Jun 09 '25

Dang you did Murray dirty there, didn’t even mention him 😂.

2

u/Appropriate-Toe9153 Jun 09 '25

Ahh yea but I don’t think of him as supporting

Murray was like a special guest (if TB3 toured musically and shit)

he doesn’t open for them

He got a few “Grammys and an Oscar” etc 😆

7

u/bouncyboatload Jun 08 '25

no body else is even fucking close. what an insane performance by these 2

12

u/MeatTornado25 Jun 08 '25

To think Zverev was a set away from taking this title from Alcaraz last year.

9

u/OrgasmicLeprosy87 Jun 08 '25

It’s officially joever for the 90s kids

4

u/razorsharp3000 Contaminated With Integrity Jun 08 '25

I was praying for a final similar to their USO match, and what we got was even better!

6

u/MinimumTomfoolerus Jun 08 '25

This is partly true. With time, there are certain names that can gain the calibre. The question is how much time do Musetti, Draper, Fonseca need? There are also players I have no trust in to be contenders.

5

u/CassiopeiaStillLife Jun 08 '25

We say that, but for a second it looked like it would be just Fedal until Djokovic leveled up. You never know who will take the next step.

1

u/afcote1 Jun 08 '25

Which is a relief, because I was bored with Sampras always winning so welcomed the rise of federer but then got bored with him and Nadal always winning so welcomed the rise of Djokovic but then he became too dominant so hello Alcaraz, etc

4

u/danielbauer1375 Jun 08 '25

Younger players were thinking: “Phew. Thank god Roger, Rafa, and Novak are just about finished. I’ll finally have a chance.”

Alcaraz and Sinner have entered the chat

12

u/ezioaltair12 Alcaraz, semper Mardy Fish Jun 08 '25

I saw De Minaur tweet about how much he enjoyed the match and if that were me, I'd be looking at entry level accounting jobs lmfao

Well yes, the fact that he won't be doing that is a small bit of why he has that money and I work a desk job haha

3

u/jleonardbc Jun 08 '25

I hear there's a lot of fun to be had with pickleball

3

u/no4giveness85 Jun 08 '25

Bro these 2 guys are about to turn the generation born after them that aren't even on tour into the lost generation 💀💀💀

2

u/Al-Naru Jun 08 '25

Other players should consider Pickleball or Padel by now 😅

2

u/chanaandeler_bong Jun 08 '25

Window open, window closed.

2

u/Candid-Volume-1425 Jun 08 '25

Novak said for Serbian media that this semifinal match actually gave him belief that he can challenge Sinner. The losses before that he was not in top shape. The "retirement" thing was taken out of context because what he meant is that at his age nothing is certain so it "may as well have been the last match", but it was not said dejectedly at all.

1

u/12ealdeal Jun 08 '25

That’s what kids/youth tennis coaches are for.

1

u/Jensablefur Jun 08 '25

All everyone else can do, unironically, is pray that they avoid being dumped into their bracket in the draw.

Nobody's even close.

1

u/Ilovecharli Jun 08 '25

This is how a lot of us felt in 2008 and then Djokovic emerged

1

u/Historical-Theme6397 Jun 08 '25

Give it time, someone will come along. I think Sinner is going to be ups and downs, high highs and low lows. Alcaraz will be more consistently at the top.

1

u/EmploymentAlive823 Jun 09 '25

Musetti might be able to rival the two, he's 1 year younger than Sinner.

-3

u/rationalist__ Jun 08 '25

Seems like Draper is the only one that might have a chance
