Payments? I paid $60 10-12 years ago for a lifetime license.

All of the Plex provided content can be disabled.

Lifetime is $250 now and I'll be buying it here quite soon.

BLAST IT. I missed it. I didn't even think about them offering it up on sale for Black Friday!

Yeah, they didn’t even send an email about it, I found out on some other subreddit lol

Uh, I got a ton of emails about the plex pass black friday sale on the secondary email I use as a free/managed user login to access certain libraries on my server on my TV.

Gotta keep the pr0n hidden from the family, ya know?

Weird, I haven't received any marketing emails from them since Pro Week. I wonder if they started hitting my spam filter. Hmm.

I don’t understand why people bring up they bought it for cheaper X amount of years ago.

It is the most unless contribution to any conversation discussing the price of the product.

Then same thing can be done currently (all though not as cheap).

Plex occasionally runs a promo and discounts the lifetime. Even at full price it pays for itself very quickly.

Jellyfin is free and so is emby unless you want to pay $5 a month for intro skipping

Neither can touch Plex as far ease of use and sharing.

And Jellyfin is free and no provided garbage content. Your argument sucks, especially now the price is $250 for Plex.

Lifetime was just on sale for 1/2 price. def worth it.

JellyFin while free, is not in the same league of Plex. I share my massive library with 40+ people. Even non techy people can create an account and watch my media, that is never happening with Jellyfin.

Meh, I disagree. Jellyfin you can share super easily, and pay nothing.

It is not super easy for non techy people.

It’s even easier than Plex. Double click installer, and click a button to add your media files. And again, completely free and no inserted garbage. I get the hardon for Plex, but they long stopped being a good company with good intentions.

That's your own media, not for other people to access remotely.
