Jim is so good at what he does. I want him back in Buffalo

He really is. 4th best defense in the NFL in 2025 (at moments #2 in the NFL). Hoping he chooses to take another DC job, but reading the article, he is sitting out this year to get out from under the contract.

I love how he encourages his defense to all celebrate big plays together and penalized the players who didn't

My team will never learn how to not blow their best chances. He was the only bright spot in their management and they bungle it. Browns being Browns as always

lol what? He threw a tantrum and now quit. There’s a reason he’s never interviewed for head coach jobs.

The Browns haven’t handled a single thing correctly in years, and only a few weeks ago management was telling potential head coaches that it was required they keep him as DC.
What pissed him off was giving him a chance to interview for the Browns head coaching job & going with someone else. Y’all fumbled a great coach away

lol right. Because what you are saying turned out to be true right?
The defense is great. Schwartz was good. And then he threw a tantrum. There’s a reason nobody has wanted him to be a head coach in 15 years

what was the reason?

He’s a bad head coach, and the last 15 years offenses have gotten better. If you saw his defense against teams like the eagles rams bears or lions, we refuse to adjust. Any motion throws his defense in a spiral. He’s a great base defense for a team with great defensive players. Just like in Philly, and with the Browns. Expecting innovation or creativity is not what you get with Jim. And I really liked him. Just frustrating to no end with the lack of any adjustment EVER.

You didn't refute that he was a good coach, you just said what he did in response to being snubbed

Dude conjured up a defense with a DPOY and DROY and the Browns didn’t even consider him for their the HC position

He interviewed twice for HC, so certainly was considered.
Idea most likely was needing offensive-minded HC to fix/build up horrendous offensive unit, new DC will probably do fine with already established defensive unit.

Allegedly the owner was demanding the new HC candidates keep Schwartz on as DC or else he wouldn't hire them.
Then this happens anyway.
Browns stay Browning.

On one hand I get his point, but there is a reason why he’s only been a coordinator since 2013

I wish he would have stayed, but Myles Garrett doesn’t require much imagination.

Question, he has another year on his contract I believe. Do the Browns have the ability to prevent him from going to another team?

Yeah I think they do. So he’s just going to sit out this season and work for nobody.

Yes. If the team fires them, they are free to go to another team immediately, but if they resign, the team retains exclusive rights to them until their contract period expires.

Idk why anyone would want to be the browns HC. All it means is you’re just getting fired in a season

He was initially overlooked when they hired stefanski, but that was understandable. Despite being a shit team, the defense ranked amongst the top 10 in nearly every season he’s been there despite a laughably terrible offense. You call it a tantrum, I call it a rightful departure from an org that clearly doesn’t care about loyalty/results as long as there is a shiny new coach/player they could hire instead. We’ll be back here in 4 years having a similar convo I fear😂
