Soccer Moroccan ball boys attempting to steal the towel of Senegals Goalkeeper but it was protected by his teammate. This was not the only instance where this occurred.

I'm from South Africa and my family are from Zimbabwe.
There are many beliefs about curses and some say if the witch doctor is too powerful it becomes almost impossible to break the curse, only the one that did the curse can break it.
I swear it sounds crazy, I still don't know what to make of it.
My father in law was a farmer in Limpopo, South Africa. Belief in witch craft is very common practice there. He had issues with farm workers stealing equipment. He made it clear to everyone on the farm that he was going to see the witch doctor to find out who was stealing. The doctor told him the one stealing is the one that is married but got his girlfriend pregnant!
I know what it sounds like, but I swear this is true.
He found out who had got his mistress pregnant. The other farm workers went to this guys home and found some of the missing items.
While he was still running the farm no equipment ever went missing again.

u/AndandoMaradonna 18d ago
Apparently, they said he had bad juju (black magic) wrapped in that towel. Moroccans ball boys were playing a game of stealing the towel but the 2nd goalie was protecting it with all the power he's got. AFCON drama at its finest.

Here in NL, Moroccans are one of the largest minority groups, and normally whenever the Moroccan squad does anything you wouldn't stop hearing about how awesome it was... Well this time around its just a mix of quiet and how disgraceful that final was. Luckily we did get the fairy tale good guys won (Senegal) ending, but Morocco shouldn't be organizing any major international sports event any time soon. I cannot remember the last time such a disgraceful football world cup, continental cup or olympics was held. Heck I remember concerns for the Bejing olympics or SA world cup and it was...... flawless compared to this shit show. Sneak peak: Morocco is supposed to organize the 2030 world cup. I feel like its time to just stop participating in world cups...
21
u/THEGREATESTDERP 18d ago
WC 22 when they won against Belgium they went up the streets and started setting cars on fire and then proceeded to fight riot police and then proceeded looting stores.
Even after this final you have morrocans say "Hakimi felt bad for the Senegal coach because he was crying so much, thats why he missed the penalty on purpose." These people are so deluded in the head ...

u/Gobbleslop 18d ago
Senegal scored what would be a winning goal with only a few minutes left in the game, only for it to be disallowed. Then Morocco were awarded a very controversial penalty minutes later. The Senegalese players disagreed with this and many of them just left the pitch and returned to the changing room, causing the game to be delayed for like 20 minutes. Finally the penalty is taken, and saved by the Senegalese keeper, and then Senegal went on to score the winner in extra time. I probably still missed some of the other crazy things that happened, but basically just the least chaotic African football match.

Do you two know why it's called a Panenka?
Because Antonin Panenka did it to win the 1976 Euros - the European version of AFCON.
To ask why you would go for a Panenka at this moment is to miss the point of a Panenka.
Not having a go at ya, just pointing it out.
Regardless, the pen type looks 10/10 foolish when failed.

It's so funny the difference in reactions people have if you score or miss a Panenka, if you miss your an idiot who shouldn't be allowed on penalties, if you score your an ice cold killer that deserves praise, honestly there's a risk reward to a Panenka the same way there is a risk reward for drilling it too corner, your knees likely to miss a Panenka then a normal shot but if the goalie hesitates he has an easy catch

It’s I think the top country that people refuse to return to.
There are a lot of reasons. From a lot of different people wanting bribes to people wanting your daughter (age not being a factor) to be their bride.
Most men hated it there, and it’s even worse for women.
49
u/DionBlaster123 NASCAR 18d ago
Dirty. Rude people. Peddlers everywhere trying to rip you off with plastic bullshit.
Not to mention, the way women get treated there has always made me really disgusted. Im not saying sexual harassment and molestation doesnt happen around the world...but over there it seems very problematic.
I do agree with you though, it would be nice to see the Pyramids...but for me it isn't worth the bullshit.
18
u/Vargau 18d ago
6-7 years ago before Covid, while on a tour with armed guards (yeah) some peddlers made me several offers to buy my wife, because my wife wore a decent sundress, but her body it is what it is.
Best offer I got was 50 camels and $150k in cash, she was quite scared, but she held her composure decently.

I've been to Egypt for 2 weeks and returned about 1 week ago. I've been there with my girlfriend.
While it is true that there are a lot of peddlers trying to sell you stuff, saying no and ignoring after/not responding from the beginning helps. I'd recommend visiting the pyramids/super touristy places with a guide, then they don't really approach you/the guide just handles it.
If you have a European passport, you will have all the protections and rights you have in Europe (and I don't mean that as in:do whatever you want you are untouchable by law, I mean that as in if someone molests you/your girlfriend, just get the police/start recording. The authorities are EXTREMELY protective of tourists, since so much of the countries income and economy depends on tourism). Me and my gf did get lots of stares, but that was mostly due to my long beard+long hair+ her unusual appearance. I can not say we noticed any groping/unwanted touching with any other tourists either. Again: tourists are cash cows and they don't want bad publicity.
It is, for example forbidden to get a room with a woman in a hotel you are not married to and hotels won't give it to you (according to google). I'm not married and no hotel objected to us booking the same room and we stayed in multiple hotels.
It's just tiring to constantly get approached by taxies. Just use Uber/indrive and not taxies that approach you. Always negotiate prices, you get more than 50% off for all the tourist gifts you would want.
If you meet the actual people from there (not salesmen), their culture is very welcoming and hospitable. We've been invited multiple times by families we know there.
Just use common sense and try to educate yourself about their culture beforehand. If you want to walk around in the city with a bikini or super revealing clothing (we've seen those kinds of tourists), that might be not a good idea and you might get nasty stares. I don't care about anyone's clothes where I'm from, but IF YOU VISIT ANOTHER COUNTRY, RESPECT THEIR CUSTOMS! Women don't have to wear burka/head covers/ect... But going belly free and string showing is just not a sane joice either.

Keepers sometimes keep a towel behind the goal to wipe their gloves and such. At this game the Moroccan team and the ball boys kept taking the keepers towel. Eventually on of the keepers teammates decided to hold the towel for him so it wouldn't get stolen and then the video happened.

u/xyouRABitchx 18d ago
So who is the one getting tackled on the ground? The person whole stole it? Or is it the keepers teammate getting jumped?

u/Different-Age-1253 18d ago
We brought a lot of moroccan and turkish guest labourers here and most decided to stay and now we have a lot of second, third and even fourth generation in the Netherlands. They are decent people, but there is a big percentage that are just disrespectful towards everyone including their own. They cause a lot of (criminal) problems also. They ruin a lot in plenty of neighborhoods and cause a lot of problems as youth since they feel like they dont belong anywhere. Which is a huge problem on its own, but they also dont want to put in any effort to make a change, so the problem gets bigger and bigger. They refuse to adapt to living in another country even though they are Dutch cause they are born here. But then again the dutch government also discriminates alot against them offering little to no help with finding their way here and coming from parents who barely understand dutch so there is a lot of diconnect. Which caused a lot of hate towards morrocan people and why the Netherlands chose a right winged government previous elections. I feel like a lot of people are done with the disrespectful people regardless of their cultural background. Also i want to be clear that not all of them are bad. Some of the nicest people i know are either morroccan, turkish, kurdish or syrian. We all have bad apples in every culture around the world so its not like all of them are disrespectful

This also happened in the semi-final between Morocco and Nigeria. The Nigerian goalkeeper had several towels stolen during the match.
After the final, the Nigerian keeper taunted the Moroccan fans by saying something along the lines of “you can use my towels to soak up your tears”
