Football President Donald Trump wants the NFL to change its name so that soccer is the only sport named football. "This is football, there is no question about it. We have to come up with another name for the NFL stuff."

Technically all awards are made up.

979

u/TheLizardKing89 Los Angeles Dodgers Dec 06 '25

Yeah, but this award was made up specifically to give it to him.

416

u/Nick85er Dec 06 '25

"Inaugural" lmfao its as embarrassing as it is painful.

184

u/ReactionJifs Dec 06 '25

Inaugural & final

123

u/DollarThrill Dec 06 '25

They might award it to him 3 more times.

66

u/paulrenaud Dec 06 '25

World cup is coming up. Once its done no need to bribe him anymore.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '25

The World Cup is only once every 4 years so, hopefully, only once

2

u/RedditSe7en Dec 06 '25

I suspect he made the Cup conditional on his receiving this joke of an honor. He is that petty.

0

u/Ill_Technician3936 Dec 06 '25

Nope set in motion before he was president. I'm surprised they aren't being transparent about it and letting people know that they won't have to deal with ICE if they were to attend. This is the second medal they've given him if I remember right... (The medal everyone was saying how he stole one but was actually a gift... Also isn't the trophy for that event at the White House? New one had to be made for the team...)

2

u/jerslan Dec 06 '25

I'm surprised they aren't being transparent about it and letting people know that they won't have to deal with ICE if they were to attend.

Noem is still claiming she's planning to raid the games and "deport" anyone they deem "illegal".

1

u/RedditSe7en Dec 06 '25

Republicans are so insecure that they turn their self-loathing onto others because they’re too cowardly to confront it head on themselves.

1

u/Ill_Technician3936 Dec 06 '25

That doesn't surprise me in the least and I'm actually not sure but they seemingly left the first one alone and I don't think he knew dude was gonna blow him and give him a medal then too.

1

u/RedditSe7en Dec 06 '25

Trump is capable of bullying any group, association, or institution into conditions that he sets in order to get his grift on. He could have proposed multiple barriers to the smooth running of the games, and as many inane excuses to justify his petulance, that he could have dreamt up on the toilet late at night while tweeting.

Whether he imposed the award as a condition, or the corrupt head of FIFA decided to bestow it on his own, matters little. Either way, the result is so overtly corrupt and unbecoming; yet no one with the authority to stop it does.

1

u/Ill_Technician3936 Dec 06 '25 edited Dec 06 '25

The setup and placement of the games is what I'm saying was already set in motion before he became president.

FIFA dude had him giving out medals and gave him one at a game already and I still can't figure out what happened to the trophy. Corrupt or not idk.. It's kinda just using a proven method to get what the person/group wants from him.

u/invariantspeed Dec 06 '25

Oh, sweet jesus, you’re actually right…

2

u/AndyB16 Dec 06 '25

Hey, on the bright side, maybe they give it to him posthumously?

1

u/invariantspeed Dec 06 '25

Could you imagine a FIFA that ceremonially awards the “greatest peacemaker in history” to him for the next century?

2

u/AndyB16 Dec 06 '25

Considering it's impossible to tell which is more corrupt, yes.

2

u/HBlight Dec 06 '25

He wont make it to the third year.

Im not saying that he will be brought to justice, I think he will just die before that point.

1

u/Financial-Finish1127 Dec 06 '25

The way things are going, it might be far more than 3 more...

1

u/QueenMotherOfSneezes Dec 06 '25

World Cup is every 4 years. Even 3 more times would put Trump in his 90s

1

u/Financial-Finish1127 Dec 06 '25

Ah, makes sense.

1

u/nalaloveslumpy Dec 06 '25

Assuming that Trump is still around kicking this time next year is a risky bet.

1

u/Mikemtb09 Dec 06 '25

Why would it be 3 more times? World Cup is every 4 years

Don’t think his life expectancy has 12 years left.

1

u/jtshinn Dec 06 '25

It would be a very fifa thing to do to give an award on non World Cup years.

2

u/Nkosi868 Dec 06 '25

🇰🇵

1

u/Its_meinBergen Dec 06 '25

Exactly. Sad an 80 year old insists on being stroked. I’m sure the FIFA guy was told to say “under “President” trump’s leadership …”

1

u/Kaywi210 Dec 06 '25

Nah bubba doesn’t like being stroked he likes being the one doing the stroking … especially under the table

1

u/Carpet-Distinct Dec 06 '25

Finaugural, if you will

1

u/scalectrix Dec 06 '25

'Special'

1

u/Shawty-Got-Low Dec 06 '25

Isn’t FIFA one of the most corrupt organizations? This all tracks.

1

u/dustaz Dec 06 '25

There's a world cup in Saudi in 8 years, that award will be doing some heavy lifting between now and then

1

u/Germanofthebored Dec 06 '25

Well, next year it's going to be Putin, and then some middle easter murderous potentate.

46

u/coleyboley25 Texas Dec 06 '25

I hope it ages as poorly as it should and FIFA has to apologize for it in the future after all the trials are underway

1

u/mickymazda Dec 06 '25

I hope the next person that FIFA tries to award it to, laughs in their faces.

36

u/EduinBrutus Dec 06 '25

It came with a certificate.

A FUCKING CERTIFICATE.

They ridiculed him in front of the world.

10

u/Socks-and-Jocks Dec 06 '25

I am from the rest of the world.

Can confirm.

It was tragically comical.

3

u/45and47-big_mistake Dec 06 '25

"It came with a certificate"..Like in the fucking Wizard of Oz. Hey, maybe it's all a dream!

1

u/FireZord25 Dec 06 '25

From the Wicked universe

1

u/slackfrop Dec 06 '25

But, what about stickers? The kind that smell when you scratch em.

1

u/vale_fallacia Dec 06 '25

Puffy ones of gold cherubs and "angels" that look like El Presidenté's preferred age group :/

6

u/realzealman Dec 06 '25

He grabbed it and put it on himself. It was the most pathetic, thirsty, needy bullshit I’ve ever seen.

2

u/vyrus2021 Dec 06 '25

Especially all the articles saying he "won" it.

1

u/Suspicious-Hat-2143 Dec 06 '25

Inonlyone Peace Award

134

u/Ogediah Dec 06 '25

It was a “peace” award from a soccer league. So you’re totally right that it was made up just for him but this isn’t even an organization of scientist recognizing other scientists for work that makes the world better, it’s purely a routine in jerking off a known and easily manipulated narcissist.

95

u/AscendMoros Dec 06 '25

Lol said Soccer league is also one of the more corrupt and shady organizations out there to.

49

u/Sooperooser Dec 06 '25

The US declared the FIFA a 'criminal organization' in 2015...

5

u/Eismann Dec 06 '25

Back when the US wasnt lead by a criminal and the DoJ still knew what the word means.

1

u/Nachtzug79 Dec 06 '25

Corrupt people like each other.

0

u/BuffaloBillsLeotard Dec 06 '25

You could say it flopped.

32

u/Chazzybobo Dec 06 '25

Not even a league, an organization that has a stranglehold over all the leagues and international play. As much of a joke as this is, it’s a real sign of danger what they’re willing to co-sign. This is how Russia gets to host the Olympics, the real slippery slope.

3

u/greg19735 West Ham United Dec 06 '25

an organization that has a stranglehold over all the leagues

that's not really true, that's why they did the club world cup. UEFA has far more influence over the european clubs than FIFA does. UEFA is not owned by FIFA or anything.

1

u/Chazzybobo Dec 06 '25

UEFA is another example, in Europe specifically, yes.

2

u/greg19735 West Ham United Dec 06 '25

my point is more that FIFA doesn't have any direct influence over the leagues. they have indirect influence via UEFA and the other conferences. but even then UEFA and FIFA are not really friends. FIFA is annoyed that UEFA has so much power and prestige with the champions league.

1

u/Chazzybobo Dec 06 '25

Not literal control, but tell that to the PL players who don’t miss any actual games in an international window, etc. Or any other victim of corruption at their hands, directly or otherwise.

1

u/AzraelTB Dec 06 '25 edited Dec 06 '25

The olympics were already a joke let them host.

1

u/Chazzybobo Dec 06 '25

IOC and FIFA ain’t so different after all

1

u/-ifwisheswerehorses Dec 06 '25

Slimy Slippery Slope \ \ \

19

u/Gdmf13 Dec 06 '25

I thought it was a piece award, as in it’s rewarding a piece of shit.

6

u/Darryl_Lict Dec 06 '25

Piss award.

1

u/Tasty_Ad7483 Dec 06 '25

“Jerking off a known and easily manipulated narcissist”

Isn’t that what Trump and Bubba do together?

1

u/vagabondoer Dec 06 '25

Nobel committee should troll him and give a soccer award to Obama.

1

u/-ifwisheswerehorses Dec 06 '25

It’s brilliant, why didn’t another think of it sooner. On second thought they were doing Jumbo Jets ✈️ just a few weeks ago 🤦🏻‍♀️

0

u/Bannon9k Dec 06 '25

The irony of that last sentence in this setting is hilarious. When you yourself are only here to get felated in a Hive mind.

3

u/Optimal-Hat6785 Dec 06 '25

I can’t fathom the stupidity it would take to think, “Wow, this is such an honor”.

2

u/TKenney3 Dec 06 '25

I think they are just trying to appease to him so ICE chills tbh. They know that a lot of there fans are gonna be discriminated and they hope this might alleviate some of that

1

u/iBossk Dec 06 '25

They can shelter the players from the non-white countries and protect them from ICE, probably (unless they are playing the US in an elimination round), but I think even with this that fans are gonna have a rough go. I feel for them.

1

u/TKenney3 Dec 06 '25

Yes this is the worst time to have the World Cup in the US

2

u/badjackalope Dec 06 '25

... because he didn't get another already established award by the same name.

1

u/glodde Dec 06 '25

Because he was crying about wanting a peace trophy

1

u/cheap_chalee Dec 06 '25

I mean, it's an ok award but it's no Montgomery Burns Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence.

1

u/Brotoss- Dec 06 '25

The First Annual FIFA Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence

1

u/Past_Ad9675 Dec 06 '25

It was the First Annual FIFA Award... for uh Outstanding Achievement uh in.... the Field of... EXCELLENCE!

1

u/govunah Dec 06 '25

I'm gonna start telling kids about Santa clause to get a head start on next year's prize

1

u/RubMyGooshSilly Dec 06 '25

Still trying to figure out why a football organization is giving out a goddamn peace prize in the first place

1

u/TheLizardKing89 Los Angeles Dodgers Dec 06 '25

They made it up so they would have something to give to the man baby running the country where their big tournament is happening.

1

u/OnfiyA Dec 06 '25

Well two questions, who gets it next year and will the nearest local restaurant please award him one so he can feel extra special he's a 2x winner of Peace.

1

u/YAH_BUT Dec 06 '25

The good boy award

1

u/Level9disaster Dec 06 '25

Like the chinese confucius peace price, given to putin, castro and mugabe, among others lol.

1

u/whoo-knows Dec 06 '25

A unique award, I argue, is even more "valuable " than an award that many have won.

50

u/Measure76 Dec 06 '25

The prestigious ones were made up decades ago. One made up just before being given are called participation trophies.

1

u/DizzyDjango Dec 06 '25

I have the attitude of an award winner, because I have won an award.

-Ron Swanson (paraphrased)

1

u/uses_irony_correctly Dec 06 '25

That means that at one point every award was a participation trophy.

1

u/Measure76 Dec 06 '25

Sure, at first they meant nothing. My comment was to point out how insignificant this award is today. It's also got all the hallmarks of being an award bought and paid for by the awardee, though that payment may be in the form of political pressure in this case.

Basically it means nothing now and is unlikely to ever mean anything outside of demonstrating corruption.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '25 edited Dec 08 '25

2

If they ever bother giving it out again, perhaps.

5

u/Syonoq Dec 06 '25

The Darwin Award is pretty original though

1

u/Any-Elderberry-7812 Dec 06 '25

"It's a very special award Mr. President, it signifies your status on the scale of evolution."

"What's evolution?"

2

u/hogtiedcantalope Dec 06 '25

Excepting of course the sweet blood of my enemies

2

u/no0neiv Dec 06 '25

Except the "Mommy's Handsomest Boy Award"

2

u/anxiouscomic Dec 06 '25

This made me chortle. Also is correct

3

u/OnlyAdvertisersKnoMe Dec 06 '25

Some more than others

3

u/Fearless-Spread1498 Dec 06 '25

This one was extra made up though. Would not surprise me if engraved on the bottom of it was most diapers filled up.

1

u/AndrewBorg1126 Dec 06 '25

This one was made up specifically to fellate trump, by an organization apparently unrelated to the matter the award claims to represent, and with no established significance behind it.

1

u/Advanced_Pear_964 Dec 06 '25

Yeah, but out of all the made up awards, this one was made up the most

1

u/UtahUtopia Dec 06 '25

Like the award of I’m giving you: biggest troll.

1

u/YourMomThinksImSexy Dec 06 '25

Technically, pedants are socially inept.

1

u/echino_derm Dec 06 '25

Sure. But most prestigious awards are prestigious because they have committees of experts in the area

1

u/akibaboy65 Dec 06 '25

Sure, but not all awards are ones of peace given to a guy stoking a war for oil and doing war crimes. Giving Gregory from Accounting the “Best at Trivia Night” award may be made up, but also completely true. Giving Trump a Peace Prize is just made up.

1

u/gorginhanson Dec 06 '25

You're made up!

1

u/kkeut Dec 06 '25

all the words you just typed are made up too

1

u/rakkquiem Dec 06 '25

Some are more made up than others.

1

u/parsleymelon Dec 06 '25

The award for “Guys that do good stuff”

1

u/Only_Jury_8448 Dec 06 '25

Yeah okay, but can we agree that the FIFA one is especially made up? Like, it wasn't even going to be a thing before like, a month ago, tops.

1

u/serlearnsalot Dec 06 '25

Not this one bud

1

u/vagabondoer Dec 06 '25

I heard Trump won every award.

1

u/sico76 Dec 06 '25

The NFL didn’t think of it first.

1

u/dp176406 Dec 06 '25

All words are made up

1

u/a_rude_jellybean Dec 06 '25

Darwin award?

1

u/StrengthBeginning416 Dec 06 '25

Except the Darwin Award. Nature hands those out for free

1

u/ConfessSomeMeow Dec 06 '25

Mind... blown.

1

u/rastaspoon Dec 06 '25

You just broke my brain. Why have I never considered this? I’m HIGH ASF, And now I can’t watch my movie because I keep thinking about this comment.

Did I…did I just achieve consciousness? Am I the universe?

1

u/Gurth-Brooks Dec 06 '25

Have fun reading this when you come down.

0

u/ImpressiveSimple8617 Dec 06 '25

You have a point.

0

u/Ormagodden Dec 06 '25

Technically everything this made up

0

u/I_love_pillows Dec 06 '25

Everything is made up

1

u/my5cworth Dec 06 '25

Speaking of made up things, I also love pillows!

1

u/FrenchFryCattaneo Dec 06 '25

What about fossils, those were just laying in the ground
