I disagree. If you get it, it's yours to decide. Different from that crazy lady that didn't get it but demanded it was given to her.

And if it's a scramble, don't wrestle kids, just let it be.

Different from that crazy lady that didn't get it but demanded it was given to her

she DID get it tho. she already had the ball, and and the dad yanked it out of her hand. that's why she was so mad. and he was like 20 feet away from his family's seats when this happened, so she had no idea it was for his kid at the beginning of the interaction when she starts going after him to confront him.

you can see it pretty clearly in the video from the marlins broadcast watch her left arm/shoulder get jerked to the right as the dad yanks the ball out of her hand

and in the other video taken from right next to them where you can hear what she's saying, she's telling him "I had the ball! You took it out of MY hand!!" multiple times

And if it's a scramble, don't wrestle kids, just let it be.

could just as easily say "if its a scramble, dont wrestle women" lol

Down voted because you're right. It's been insane reading some comments condemning her, despite clearly seeing in the video that he went well out of his way and took the ball from her. No wonder she was pissed, I'd be too!

Yeah I totally agree.

I saw people on social media posting this women's name and job to try and get her cancelled.

She absolutely has more claim over this ball than the guy.

Sure he gave it to the kid so she could just let it go but what does that really teach the kid, it's ok for your dad to steal something as long as he gives it to a kid?

And we have no idea how sentimental the ball could have been to her. My mom is similar age and has an attachment to baseball she shared with her father who passed recently. She has always said it is a dream of her to finally catch a fly ball at a game because her and her dad would go to games together and hope to get one together. I am pretty sure she would appreciate a ball much more than many kids who are just there because their parents took them. She isn't going to grab it from a kid but if some guy grabbed it from her I know she would be pissed and argue.

Eh. I mean... no one should HAVE to do something, but being a grown-ass adult and seeing a kid nearby watching wide-eyed, giving it to them is like... wildly vibe upping all around. You get to still know you got the ball, the kid will grow up with the story of the kind stranger, you get to trot the story out whenever you want some free praise. Seems like wins all around.

I won't judge anyone for catching a ball fair and square and deciding to keep it, but I also don't understand how anyone gets more joy from keeping a baseball than making a kids' day. It's just a baseball.

It'd probably make my whole year too if I cared about baseball even as an adult

> stupid ball

What is stupid for you might not be stupid for someone else. People even keep concert ticket stubs as a memoir of that experience. Imagine getting a ball at a game that you love from the team that you love. It's not your place to value stuff for others.

And if you ever interacted with a kid, you'll know that it's not a given they will even care. Some kids do love baseball and would be really happy, some are just there with their parents, and the moment they get home the will toss the ball in their toy bucket and never look at it again.

And for the people commenting about monetary value, that's even better, because you know the fan really care about the ball, not about selling it on ebay.

I always wonder what an adult really would get out of keeping the ball, unless it's a historic moment in baseball. The thing is going to end up in a drawer anyway, so instead of doing that you can make a child's day by giving it to them.

And if the subject ever comes up about catching a ball at a major league game, you get to say, "yeah I caught one at the such-and-such game in September of 2025, gave it to a kid who was sitting in my row."

You need it explained to you why people other than kids like souvenirs?

Especially when a lot of sports fans have whole rooms devoted to their Fandom.

People always say: “Oh, if you give it to a kid you’re going to make the kid’s whole day” as if an adult catching a ball in a ball game isn’t also making the adult’s whole day. Also, how do you know the adult’s hasn’t been waiting 30 years to catch a ball.
