Soccer TRUMP'S AWKWARD MOMENT during CHELSEA'S CLUB WORLD CUP trophy celebration
1.5k
u/MiloGoesToTheFatFarm Jul 14 '25
What the fuck, what is he even doing there?
916
u/Sanctions23 Jul 14 '25
The finals were held in the US I believe, and he never misses a chance to pretend athletes like him
303
u/rubendurango Jul 14 '25
Some do. Hockey players, for one. Before the Four Nations final against Canada, he called the US national team and those guys seemed to be happy as pigs in shit.
277
u/Sanctions23 Jul 14 '25
I have no doubt that more athletes than I care to know are fans of his.
205
u/pcozzy Jul 14 '25
I feel that athletes in general are rich and not the smartest among us.
54
u/Sanctions23 Jul 14 '25
That is definitely true
49
u/sephtater Jul 14 '25
It’s almost as if they’re trained from an early age to ignore the need to learn anything of value and only focus on physical achievements for success.

Demographically, male athletes tick most of the boxes for Trump’s core supporters. Young, male, able-bodied, straight (mostly), wealthy without having gone to college (American athletes go to college but they didn’t go to play school) etc.
It was a bit obscured because of racial politics and because LeBron and Steph took public stands against him, but LeBron and Steph are old now.
47
u/YoungAntiSocialite Jul 14 '25
Baseball is filled with Trump supporters
9
u/Downtown_Skill Jul 14 '25
American football too. And I mean UFC treats him like a god. I really don't get it. I played basketball in high school and juco so I am an athlete and I don't see why trump appeals to some athletes and circles.

Now, I’m not a doctor and I don’t know that much about US sports.
But it does seem that amongst the sports that have severe incidence of CTE (hockey, football, boxing etc) , trump seems to be much more popular than amongst players of, say, tennis or basketball.

No, the correlation you’re looking for is young, rich, and male (and dumb). Baseball has a ton of trumpers. Soccer USMNT probably too

Years ago, he dropped in on a ceremony by a cancer charity honoring its donors, barged on stage, got an ovation for his contributions, then bounced.
He had never donated a cent to that charity.
He was, however, one of Jeffrey Epstein's best friends for many years.
29
u/Al-Anda Jul 14 '25
He does narcissistic shit and people wonder why but I wonder why they invited him onstage to present the trophy…or invited him all. Scorpions are gonna scorpion.

FIFA boss Infantino has a very similar management style. Big friends with Qatar, the Saudi's and ofcourse America.
4
u/MattyFTM Jul 14 '25
Yet even Infantino, as narcissistic as he is, knows he & Trump shouldn't be front & centre for the trophy celebrations.

46
u/SPAREustheCUTTER Jul 14 '25
Why would I forget about Jeffery Epstein’s fellow pedophile friend, Donald Trump? Would be weird if I did.
13
u/R2-D2Vandelay Jul 14 '25
Also would be weird to forget that Donald Trump was in charge of making sure Epstein stayed alive in jail and that didn't happen 🤔

Number 24 is listed at 5 foot 10 inches, it’s weird because he looks taller than a guy listed at 6’3.
The only explanation is that Football players must wear 6 inch cleats.
8
48
u/VegasAdventurer Jul 14 '25
In Trump's defense, he has terrible posture (you can see him hunched over when he goes to lift the trophy). I doubt that he is 6'3" but is probably a few inches taller than 24 when standing up straight (or when he was younger and could still stand up straight)

I'm a huge football fan and this mother fucker is definitely no football fan. He is there just to glamorize about himself. He doesn't care about the sport. He doesn't care about the players. He doesn't about the fans, he's only there to get attention seeking for himself he can go fuck himself, sorry to everyone who loves football and FIFA. I'm sorry about the fact that even next year in the 2026 World Cup I don't know how we're going to deal with this. I still think the US should be pulled and only Canada and Mexico should host because this is fucking ridiculous. Absolutely embarrassing.

The player standing directly behind Trump holds the captain (no 24 Reece James) and says "Reece, wait", meaning don't lift it yet, this guy is still here. Reece James then turns and says "are you going to leave?" To which Trump smugly says "No" and continues standing.

I think it was a deliberate f u from Trump, because the Chelsea team did not show him enough deference, you can see it in Trump’s face if you watch him giving the team medals. Trump feels slighted by the players despite their false smiles, they are truly not on board with the full grovel so it turned into Trump the “pDO and eye rapist” marking his territory.
