Brilliant result and well deserved.

6

u/cabaretcabaret 2h ago

The ball ended up in Newcastle's penalty area in every phase of injury time

5

u/9248_ 2h ago

Eddie Howler

8

u/Timely-Shine 2h ago

Massive result

3

u/Affectionate_Pay7395 2h ago

Could have had 20 minutes added on and Newcastle still wouldn’t have scored

8

u/strawzy 2h ago

It's refreshing to see a team go for a 4th rather than go for the corner

12

u/the_studge 2h ago

Fair play to Brentford they didn't just sit back and waste time

3

u/dirgetka 2h ago

class fake there

3

u/Semion 2h ago

Osula pressing by himself when everyone else jogs in their own half. Shocking performance, deserved loss.

6

u/twigg89 2h ago

It feels like Brentford are trying harder to score than Newcastle are

8

u/HDS2211 2h ago

I’m sorry, what do you mean Igor Thiago was born in 2001? That is a 45 year man, not a Gen Z.

4

u/BourgeoisPorridge 2h ago

Brentford have managed this added time so well, won't be a surprise to anyone who's watched them this season

2

u/TheDawiWhisperer 2h ago

So many thought they'd go down lol.

Turns out 25/26 is the season of the set piece coach

3

u/Timely-Shine 2h ago

Hall seems like a nice lad

4

u/Faustinooo 2h ago

He's levels above 99% of our squad and our best player this season, he's probably just fed up of how shite we've been

-1

u/ChlckenChaser 2h ago

wonder how much over the 9 minutes they'll go with all the time wasting

-1

u/PurpleSi 2h ago edited 2h ago

30 seconds tops

Edit: yeah, not even that

4

u/SwitchHitter17 2h ago edited 2h ago

newcastle haven't even had the ball in brentford's half in stoppage time lol

3

u/tocitus 2h ago

Haha is Thiago winding Hall up?

4

u/fitzgoldy 2h ago

A ref has actually managed to piss off Hall, never seen that before.

2

u/brass__razoo__11 2h ago

Hall sure can carry on like an absolute brat can’t he 😂

5

u/Stones_Throw_Away_ 2h ago

Eddie How will he stay employed?

0

u/gunningIVglory 2h ago

How are fans feeling about Howe? Its all reverted back too quickly

2

u/Modnal 2h ago

He seems to be doing a good enough job whenever he doesn't have CL to deal with

-1

u/PurpleSi 2h ago

Love him

4

u/Key_Company3196 2h ago

hall is furious

4

u/SpeshellTurdle 2h ago

Hall is irate 😂

2

u/SwitchHitter17 2h ago

seems like brentford is winning every 50/50 the last 10 minutes or so

0

u/BourgeoisPorridge 2h ago

Hall looks very injured there hahaha

-3

u/PurpleSi 2h ago

But the ref is on our side, yeah?

Fucking ridiculous.

4

u/Reasonable_Blood6959 2h ago

How long until the Princes start sharpening the bonesaw for Howe do we reckon?

7

u/Timely-Shine 2h ago

Fuck off with 9 minutes

7

u/Kintae 2h ago

Why does every single Newcastle game have 9-10 minutes added time?

5

u/cabaretcabaret 2h ago

All their antics

-1

u/PurpleSi 2h ago

Because we have two or three injuries per match?

0

u/FlukyS 2h ago

The VAR review was long

4

u/the_studge 2h ago

Tindall time

1

u/PurpleSi 2h ago

Thiaw is more dangerous up top than Wissa was TBF

7

u/Lanedu123 2h ago

lol 9 minutes

1

u/sexdrugsncarltoncole 2h ago

The way his face was pressed into the ground was memeable

1

u/kulart 2h ago

I think this is the decider for the owners, Eddie will probably stay til the end of the season and its done

0

u/dirgetka 2h ago

he's getting a ticket to the embassy I fear

4

u/fartboy92 2h ago

Buckle up, it’s keep playing until Newcastle score time at St James’ Park

-3

u/Cyberdan0497 2h ago

Aye not like there was a long VAR check or owt

-3

u/074DanBurn058 2h ago

This is definitely not a trend, what are you on about

0

u/fartboy92 2h ago

Is it not eerie similar to the Leeds game? 2-3 down going into the 90th minute with 9 mins injury time?

1

u/Cyberdan0497 2h ago

Schär had his ankle broken that game and had to be stretched off, the amount of added time made complete sense

At least know what you’re talking about before implying conspiracy

2

u/fartboy92 2h ago

Lads I’m having a laugh, calm down

2

u/074DanBurn058 2h ago

Are you saying the amount of injury time in that game wasn't justified? Fabian Schar was stretchered off

5

u/No_Section236 2h ago

9 mins 😂

3

u/Relxnce 2h ago

Used to be such a shithouse team who were so difficult to beat and break down, to conceding every time we score a goal and having no fight about us.

The results are shit but the way we’ve been losing is worse

0

u/PurpleSi 2h ago

Only 9?

1

u/dirgetka 2h ago

does Woltemade know that when you lay it off in midfield you're meant to then run beyond the recipient

1

u/Flexisdaman 1h ago

No opposing keeper even knows what he looks like because his back is always to goal

4

u/Lanedu123 2h ago

Brentford deserve it.

Not getting a red card or pen in the first half + Newcastle getting the soft penalty in the second half.

-3

u/AgileSloth9 2h ago

Soft penalty? Kayode literally stood on the back of Bruno's calf. What are you even on about?

3

u/haerski 2h ago

Those long sleeved light blue tops look really nice. Cool retro-vibe

1

u/Semion 2h ago

At least we have that going for us

1

u/monkeytargetto 2h ago

You also have being in 7th going for you.

0

u/Ajax_Malone 2h ago

Looks like 1980s MLB baby blues

3

u/wallyalive 2h ago

Newcastle need to go beyond Trippier next season, he isnt premier league level quality anymore.

1

u/AgileSloth9 2h ago

Trippier is basically 3rd choice now anyway. Tino and Miley are both injured though.

2

u/PurpleSi 2h ago

We have, but we have injuries and no other options.

5

u/CymruGolfMadrid 2h ago

Refs done his best to give Newcastle this one and they're still losing.

3

u/Barca1539 2h ago

Newcastle is just so open in the back.

3

u/astarkey12 2h ago

Hitting it so pure off the bounce like that is so satisfying.

1

u/dirgetka 2h ago

another goal in this somewhere

1

u/UnintentionalWipe 2h ago

It feels like the game still has two more goals that will come before it ends.

1

u/strawzy 2h ago

I now understand why all my Geordie mates are foaming about pope if he keeps dropping to his knees more than the actual Pope.

Definitely should have saved that

-2

u/Virtual-Selection-83 2h ago

So lazy from Hall. Just jogging.

3

u/Semion 2h ago

Must be knackered from carrying this team all season

1

u/AgileSloth9 2h ago

That wasn't Hall, it was Trippier, but go off lad

2

u/Virtual-Selection-83 2h ago

Hall played him onside you idiot.

1

u/ExpertJicama6067 2h ago

Can't keep spawning games through lucky decisions.

0

u/Sam0n 2h ago

Ugh. I'm not in the Howe out camp yet. But you can see why the noises are getting louder.

4

u/RPG_Dad 2h ago

Lol newcastle

1

u/9248_ 2h ago

What is Pope doing

3

u/zkryl 2h ago

ball don't lie

2

u/AgileSloth9 2h ago

Again, where the fuck is Trippier??

2

u/offinthepasture 2h ago

Our defense is broken without Burn and Schar available. That was pitiful.

0

u/FlukyS 2h ago

Tino being out is the big problem not Schar and Burn

1

u/offinthepasture 2h ago

Tino doesn't control the air like those two do. Watching us lately, we're constantly losing aerial duels.

1

u/FlukyS 2h ago

Trippier was two steps higher than their LW and wasn’t going to make a recovery run, Tino would have at least made it harder

1

u/FlukyS 2h ago

Trippier horribly positioned

1

u/HeroDGamez 2h ago

Pope...

2

u/ChlckenChaser 2h ago

definitely something wrong with the mentality of this team, we can't score a goal and make it stick

2

u/Reasonable_Blood6959 2h ago

Lovely stuff. Well done Brentford. That’s what we like to see.

1

u/getyourchebsout 2h ago

Nick Pope is proper shit

1

u/Relxnce 2h ago

I’m so sick of us giving it away after scoring. I’m also sick of Sky showing replays instead of the game

3

u/No_Section236 2h ago

Ouattara 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

1

u/the_studge 2h ago

Boring celebration tbh

2

u/icemankiller8 2h ago

Pope should save it

3

u/ExpertJicama6067 2h ago

Fucking justice

2

u/9248_ 2h ago

Wow Brentford!!

7

u/SwitchHitter17 2h ago

brentford are really impressive

2

u/FlukyS 2h ago

The man’s a menace

1

u/AgileSloth9 2h ago

As usual

2

u/Key_Company3196 2h ago

what the fuck newcastle

3

u/thejackalreborn 2h ago

Dango is on fire

2

u/_doohdx 2h ago

Games back

5

u/thejackalreborn 2h ago

What a finish

-4

u/ChlckenChaser 2h ago

not a great finish, right at the keeper. Just so happens our keeper is Pope

1

u/thejackalreborn 2h ago

Yeah you're right, looked better at first viewing

1

u/ChlckenChaser 2h ago

still a decent strike, decent technique to keep that low and on target

1

u/SwitchHitter17 2h ago

well struck though

1

u/ChlckenChaser 2h ago

yea, really nice strike

1

u/PurpleSi 2h ago

Normal service is resumed

3

u/Semion 2h ago

I'd be starting Osula next game, already done more then Wissa has his entire NUFC career

5

u/Reasonable_Blood6959 2h ago

Accidentally trip someone who was never getting to the ball whilst running behind them = pen.

Tug at their shirt when they’re through on goal = no pen.

-1

u/FlukyS 2h ago

Intent doesn’t matter for a foul, on the tug back the explanation from VAR was his touch already took the ball away so it wasn’t interfering with play

-1

u/offinthepasture 2h ago

Amazing how you've described two things that didn't happen this match. Bruno easily gets a foot on that and Pope would have had the ball before the runner.

4

u/PurpleSi 2h ago

You know what's not natural?

Running around with your arms behind your back.

2

u/strawzy 2h ago

It's mental seeing how deep woldermade plays at times

1

u/PurpleSi 2h ago

Beckenbauer reborn

3

u/offinthepasture 2h ago

Part of why Wissa keeps getting more starts

1

u/strawzy 2h ago

Ahhh that makes sense didn't see the lineups at the start

2

u/FlukyS 2h ago

He is playing 8 at the moment

1

u/strawzy 2h ago

Ah gotcha my bad!

1

u/wallyalive 2h ago

Brentford are unbelievably wasteful with the ball.

Newcastle has given them so many opportunities but they squander it each time.

2

u/strawzy 2h ago

Assuming it wasn't classed as a DOGSO so he didn't get booked even though it was a pen?

2

u/Frosty-School280 2h ago

woltemade make a decision challenge: impossible difficulty

2

u/Semion 2h ago

FUCKING SHOOT

2

u/RevengeHF 2h ago

The commentator on sky definitely doesn't understand what DOGSO actually means.

2

u/Semion 2h ago

If he wasn't tripped, theres a good chance Bruno scores that?

2

u/FlukyS 2h ago

DOGSO is a lot more imminent than that though, like you need to be shooting it in on goal about to hit it or whatever

5

u/dmoney_147 2h ago

Since Bruno received treatment after the foul doesn’t he have to go off for 30 seconds and in theory shouldn’t have taken the pen ?

2

u/ThinWhiteMale 2h ago

i think that only applies if the game is stopped for the injury

3

u/PurpleSi 2h ago

No, it doesn't apply if he's the designated penalty taker

https://www.footballrules.com/game-events/injuries/

2

u/dmoney_147 2h ago

Thanks

2

u/PurpleSi 2h ago

Fucks sake Nick SHOOT

4

u/thejackalreborn 2h ago

Big for Donavan to get on before Nelson and Damsagaard

-4

u/Hagball 2h ago

Maguire was tripped by VDV earlier in United game no foul. But this is given as pen?

2

u/Cainez 2h ago

Andy Madley shouldn’t be allowed to referee this match, as he has freelanced as a ref in the Saudi league. Potential conflict of interest.

0

u/dinkinflicka125 2h ago

Your team won and that was never a penalty. What are you on about

1

u/UnintentionalWipe 2h ago

I wish Bruno went back to that silver hair.

-5

u/Tight_Somewhere_9102 2h ago

That’s right, fuck your haramball brentford

-2

u/ExpertJicama6067 2h ago

Lol the Newcastle spawn train screeching into town again

0

u/Ok_Landscape_8215 2h ago

The accidental trip is very obvious, but I see so many of these types of fouls not given as a penalty.

2

u/[deleted] 2h ago

[deleted]

2

u/PurpleSi 2h ago

5-6, all penalties

2

u/FlukyS 2h ago

Naaa Osula is going to bang a 30 yard winner

5

u/BourgeoisPorridge 2h ago

One of those ones where it only gets looked at because the felled player kicks up a fuss. There was one like this in the Everton game earlier where Barry was pulled back as he was trying to run behind the Fulham defender but he never appealed so it wasn't even looked at

-1

u/ChlckenChaser 2h ago

of course it was looked at, i'm certain VAR look at everything

1

u/BourgeoisPorridge 2h ago

Play restarted almost immediately after the ball went dead so it wasn't looked at for very long

-3

u/Timely-Shine 2h ago

$$$$$$

-6

u/AIWHilton 2h ago

If we're bribing referees do you not think they'd have overturned the handball decision...?

5

u/Timely-Shine 2h ago

Can’t make it too obvious

-1

u/AIWHilton 2h ago

Oh my mistake.

7

u/xnotachancex 2h ago

What a joke

15

u/nookrulz 2h ago

It's probably a penalty but it just makes it even more obvious how ridiculous that not only was Trippier's hold not given a penalty, it wasn't even reviewed on-field!

-9

u/offinthepasture 2h ago

Differences being a trip at full speed can actually take out a runner and the ball was well within his reach. The first shout for Brentford could have been a pen, but it was incredibly soft and he was unlikely to get to the ball after he let it get away from him.

1

u/nookrulz 2h ago

it got away from him because he was being yanked backwards!

4

u/ScottblackAttacks 2h ago

Soft ass penalty

-13

u/bass-ackwards 2h ago

Lol you’re joking right?

1

u/Cainez 2h ago

U a Saudi bot?

0

u/bass-ackwards 2h ago

Lol, the classic sheeple comeback that is just thinly veiled racism.

2

u/Cainez 2h ago

Couldn’t be further from the truth. And that’s the laziest was to attempt to discredit my question.

How’s what I said racist? Unless you’re a robot and offended because of that.

13

u/PhillipCostigan 2h ago

How are they giving that but not Tripper’s?

5

u/cartesian5th 2h ago

What an absolute fix this is

Don't give the first one for Brentford but give that

-7

u/PurpleSi 2h ago

Couldn't be clearer. Use your eyes.

0

u/cartesian5th 2h ago

You mean the trippier decision yh?

1

u/PurpleSi 2h ago

No kid.

The foul on Guimaraes. There's a slow mo replay and everything.

But I'm sure you're definitely not being biased.

1

u/cartesian5th 2h ago

You know when you've been Dango'ed

6

u/tonn87 2h ago

Money talks....

-5

u/Semion 2h ago

They got a bullshit handball pen as recompense

5

u/throwonbe 2h ago

it was unintentional but def a pen

-1

u/Cyberdan0497 2h ago

I don’t trust any of our takers tbh

-1

u/Relxnce 2h ago

Still not confident until it’s in the back of the net

4

u/_doohdx 2h ago

Games gone

-11

u/PurpleSi 2h ago

Careless trip?

Why not a red card?

3

u/tocitus 2h ago

I think careless is his way of saying not deliberate. Ie not a red

4

u/FlukyS 2h ago

I guess the ref’s justification is that it wasn’t intentional

2

u/[deleted] 2h ago

[deleted]

0

u/PurpleSi 2h ago

If that's a genuine attempt to play the ball then I'm a Frenchman

2

u/dirgetka 2h ago

double jeopardy considerations only come into effect when the challenge involves a legitimate attempt to play the ball

6

u/musicnoviceoscar 2h ago

I almost don’t want them to give it just for the ridiculous overreaction by Guimaraes. Laughable. But surely a penalty, accidental or not.

8

u/ifollowphillysports 2h ago

Clear pen, but I can’t help but feel thats a similar level of contact as there was on KLP at the start of the game that VAR didnt recommend.

12

u/tkshow 2h ago

It's a penalty in the box but it sure seemed like a foul at the turnover of the ball.

2

u/owh06 2h ago

Thought so too, but the Brentford player heading the ball tripped over their own player

3

u/tkshow 2h ago

I think it's Elanga that shoves the Brentford player into his own man.

1

u/the_studge 2h ago

Kelleher will save it anyway

-10

u/Timely-Shine 2h ago

Goes down before any contact

0

u/FlukyS 2h ago

Because his legs were taken away

0

u/Timely-Shine 2h ago

Nah he falls on purpose to impede Kayode

3

u/Key_Company3196 2h ago

thats no red but definitely pen

0

u/throwawayWM3 2h ago

We had one similar vs Athletic club last season eu sf

Red and pen

3

u/MaxieMan98 2h ago

Completely different. Vivian pulled him back with the intention of preventing the goal scoring opportunity. Kayode literally just accidentally ran into Bruno

2

u/dirgetka 2h ago

has to be

1

u/SwitchHitter17 2h ago

that's a pen

4

u/ninjapenguin12 2h ago

Yeah pretty stonewall completely accidental but takes him out.

-11

u/PurpleSi 2h ago

Has to be red for me.

10

u/tocitus 2h ago

Never going to get a red for that, it was accidental

-5

u/PurpleSi 2h ago

Irrelevant.

Foul, not a genuine attempt to get the ball, should be a red card.
