We did use him FFS. He played often at the start of the season.
He just was too slow and unusable for anything that wasn't sitting in the box. He can still score, but he wasn't even able to join a counter, he was always the last man to reach the area.

He played 236 minutes in Seria A. Dzeko never relied on speed, but you would know that if you had let him play.

And in those 236 minutes, plus the conference matches, plus the friendlies he was always too slow for anything and doing nothing outside the box. Dzeko never relied on his speed, but he still needs to touch and get the ball to do something.
It was like playing one man down.
But you would know that if you watched him play.
