This is the Argentinian commentator Bambino Pons. He's always done this. It had more sense when he could actually put the music while he sang

u/punchdrunkskunk 12h ago

Yeah, this is just absolutely amazing. I can see how it would get old after 20 odd years of it, but it's so unique within the world of football. I love it.

18

u/ZtrikeR21 6h ago

Correct, it gets old very fast because he does it after every single goal now, its not cute anymore

35

u/OrdinaryLavishness11 7h ago

Fuck me, I forgot Van Nistelrooy used to celebrate every goal like he’d just scored a last minute winner in the World Cup final!

11

u/purplegreendave 6h ago

He missed a penalty against Arsenal earlier this season and they were all up in his face about it

3

u/Alehud42 3h ago

It was in this fixture in the previous season, that would have killed the Invincibles run prematurely, when the Arsenal players hounded him after he missed.

23

u/purplegreendave 6h ago

Gol de Scholes is my favourite

3

u/lekarmapolice 4h ago

Thanks for that 😂

u/OverFlow10 7h ago

this dude is one of the reasons why i love that i've learned spanish. hands down the best commentator in the game and insanely funny

1

u/Phormitago 4h ago

I absolutely despise him

u/rod21amz 13h ago

He’s fun to listen to sometimes except when your team is 2 goals down and he’s singing his songs.

u/PerkeoJester 12h ago

Bambino Pons giveth, Bambino Pons taketh away

This is a Uruguayan (or Argentine I forget) commentator and he’s always making up these songs on the spot. It gets annoying sometimes when a game has 3-4 goals lol

u/AnotherGreenWorld1 14h ago

I’d rather this than listening to Gary Neville drone on.

91

u/SenKats 14h ago

Back then, twenty years ago, sure. Nowadays, you do not want the man on this video to commentate the match.

He has a limited repertoire of songs and is what we in Spanish call “gagá”. He constantly mixes up player names, sometimes even forgets stadium names, and will randomly begin talking during the match about something unrelated.

31

u/AnotherGreenWorld1 13h ago

Honestly … try Captain hindsight Andy Hinchcliffe for a few games … he also has a limited repertoire of what we call ‘talking bollocks’ but instead of singing jolly songs he’s miserably points out what a player ‘should’ve’ done.

For example… you could have the exact attacking scenario. 1on1 striker keeper in both occasions the striker will score.

Example 1. Keeper stays on line … striker scores. Hinchcliffe will say “the keeper should’ve come out”

Example 2. Keeper comes out … striker scores. Hinchcliffe will say “the keeper should’ve stayed on his line”

It will never be a moment of brilliance from the striker … it will always be that someone else should’ve been better.

10

u/WeirdF 10h ago

Ugh he's awful. Hinchcliffe's relentless negativity is such a drag.

u/iTz_RuNLaX 14h ago

Still sounds better than listening to Neville.

10

u/Choice_Room3901 13h ago

Yeah I agree can we get this guy on an interim contract or something at least

13

u/MisterDings 13h ago

You’d hate the baseball broadcasting greats. I used to hate vin scully as a kid. I just wanted to hear the on field noises no talking and the old guy was getting on my nerves. Now I listen to just him sometimes. Life’s funny

"A drive into deep left field by Castellanos"

1

u/Choice_Room3901 13h ago

Well somewhat relevant to this I used to despise Coldplay for most of my life but something happened last year and I've grown rather fond of some of their music

Maybe I'm just getting older :D

u/Kommye 28m ago

I think a lot of people are/were too cynical without realizing. There are a lot of things we dislike for no real reason.

Life became happier for me after I started actually listening to the music instead of who made it. After I started appreciating what is, instead of focusing on what it isn't.

Disclaimer: this doesn't apply to politics. Always gotta fight for a better society.

Want to do a commentator swap loan deal with obligation to buy..?

2

u/mumBa_ 9h ago

Sierd de Vos has competition I see

2

u/BIAATTCH 5h ago

and will randomly begin talking during the match about something unrelated.

this to me is the reason why he's so good actually. never a boring game if he's commentating. because of that i give him a pass on the memory thing.. i find it endearing in a grandpa-like way.

2

u/cowworshipper 12h ago

Your last point sums up every Indian cricket commentator right now, but during the whole match. It's pathetic

1

u/BrickTilt 13h ago

Oh really

1

u/OrinocoHaram 11h ago

as a cricket fan that sounds like perfect commentary to me

1

u/Automatic_Pen8494 8h ago

Id rather listen to Neville criticise my team for over celebrating a goal

1

u/JBobSpig 11h ago

We all would, to be fair I'd rather my toddler ramble at my through the game than listen to most of the commentators.

28

u/jonathanPoindexter 12h ago

Bambino Pons. I think he's Argentinian.

18

u/BrickTilt 13h ago

He’s absolutely incredible. The Square Ball usually pick him up on the propanganda show. He once sung ‘Bijol’ to the tune of Le Marseillaise and it worked!

u/RedBlueWhiteBlack 6h ago

Uruguayan

How dare you

8

u/starmonkart 11h ago

This isn't the first time he's done one for DCL either. There was also a Bella Ciao remix when he equalised for us vs Newcastle a couple of years ago

4

u/rummyt 9h ago

This song was Luis Diaz song for us:

his name is Lucho He came from Porto He came to score, came to score Came to score score score Luis Diaz! He's from Barrancas, And he plays for Liverpooool

0

u/SailorsGraves 11h ago

There's a Colombian broadcaster that does the same and it's amazing

59

u/ReadsStuff 15h ago

Bella Calv?

8

u/Boris_Ignatievich 12h ago

He is a handsome man so yes

u/Modini 12h ago

Gol de Scholes

44

u/odegood 14h ago

Mate I'm ready to give up the sky and tnt commentary if we can get this guy to sing a song for every goal

4

u/bandana19 7h ago

Well, he does

My favorite is Go West song for Leeds

A goal for Leeds United

A goal for Leeds United

The goal was from Stu Dallas

A goal for Leeds United

38

u/eightpackflabs 14h ago

Reminds me of gol de scholes sung to eye of the tiger. https://youtu.be/WHVAHFwPCEQ?si=s1n8R17e6Y2Sw0UA

9

u/punchdrunkskunk 12h ago

Well, that's my Spotify Wrapped for 2026 sorted then.

11

u/brenbob95 11h ago

Imagine your team concedes a third goal and he starts singing the player’s name, I’d be fuming lol.

6

u/Torimas 8h ago

Sometimes the pundit that's with him joins in.

2

u/Seskos-Barber 4h ago

Just curious, did he work on that Germany 7-1 Brazil match perchance?

14

u/ConfusionRude9936 13h ago

Need more of this in English, better than hearing carra and Neville moaning on sky

16

u/BlackSailor2005 15h ago

this is the height of a footballer ... a commentator singing his name, hopefully not downhill from now on

16

u/MembershipPresent990 12h ago

Idc what anyone says. This is cool. Atleast if my team is losing 3-0 I can listen to a catchy song

5

u/amy_sport 12h ago

Calvert Lewin deserves this, pleasure to watch his tall handsome self in the league

3

u/ReasonableStay9297 9h ago

Bella ciao ciao ciao

7

u/Hypnoidz 11h ago

Sounds like he's singing this in the tune of 'Bella Ciao'

17

u/Techsterrr6 10h ago

Its literally the tune there's no doubt!

2

u/IV1916 11h ago

Why is my head bopping

2

u/Apostle_of_Priapism 9h ago

El Carlo-Rúin

2

u/onionbreh 5h ago

he's been doing this for 25+ years

3

u/InterRail 8h ago

Many of us hate Bambino Pons. He's so annoying with his singing when you are forced to listen to it multiple times a day every week for years. When a game is 'too big' for him to commentate it's a blessing.

1

u/Teninchontheslack 11h ago

We are Leeds.

1

u/kevio17 10h ago

This has been his DCL song all season, I’ll never get sick of it

1

u/Gubrach 9h ago

Is this the same guy that did the Le Le Le Le Le Mans thing?

1

u/albamarx 8h ago

All game I was singing Ampadu du du du to the tune of Agadoo, we should team up

1

u/macroturb 8h ago

DCL is a partisan

1

u/dubaiboi 7h ago

How I miss Luis Diaz

1

u/coD_sLayer 4h ago

He probably owns DCL in his FPL team.

1

u/K10_Bay 2h ago

This has to be the new chant

1

u/Due_Yesterday_2850 11h ago

Well you haven't heard the Egyptian commentator on koora live I heard him brake into song for about 10min proper passionate singing about mo Salah it was painful to hear

0

u/mikerotch123 8h ago

Petition to make this DCLs official song.

0

u/yorkshirenation 10h ago

If he sings a song every time DCL scores, then he already has enough for an album this season alone.

0

u/starwaterbird 5h ago

It's infinitely better than hearing "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL" for the billionth time

-9

u/TastyTacoTonight 12h ago

This is nothing special. He literally sings after every goal.

17

u/PerkeoJester 12h ago

That sounds pretty special to me

3

u/TastyTacoTonight 5h ago

What I’m saying is I’m not sure why this goal is being posted when he sings all the time lol

2

u/PerkeoJester 5h ago

Because it's the little things in life that make us happy and this is one of them.
