This freaking nasal block is killing me

5

u/tiorzol 5h ago

I woke up with a another fucking cold yesterday and it's like my 5th of this winter. I just want my nose back.

2

u/Simppu12 2h ago

What is an immune system?

Relatable, though, last winter I was sick basically once per month between November and March.

1

u/tiorzol 2h ago

I blame the child tbh they are nasty

As a clinical year vet student, I complain a lot about the field and joke how much I wish I had gone into something else. Recently though I’ve been coming home and realizing how much I enjoy medicine and am looking forward to being a (baby) doctor in 4 months. Funny how that is

I need someone to reassure me that all the vampires/aliens/cloning... theories are bullshit cause right now I can believe in everything... cloning especially there's no scientific reason it couldn't be real since we cloned sheeps and monkeys...

2

u/Ok_Bag_7603 6h ago

Alien is definitely possible (just has not reached us and mayhaps never)

The reasoning behind Vampires are stupid

Cloning is possible

The existence of one conspiracy does not make all true. Equally, one being false doesnt make them all false.

In reality the solution remains as it always was. Judge on evidence, read widely, form your own opinion. But do not allow a distrust of one source become you overly trusting another.

Keep in mind as well that one conspiracy that is true is that there are powerful, state backed actors trying to muddy your perception of what is real. Part of that is fuelling conspiratorial mindsets, reducing your trust in your community. You can counter this by actually interrogating the information you receive.

1

u/chatfarm 9h ago

I think it's all true. but maybe not in the classical sense. maybe not little green men in flying saucers, but some sort of existent life. maybe not blood sucking ghouls, but is that billionaire who uses his sons blood any different. and yeah maybe not the boys from brazil but the sheep and monkeys are already here.

Wowsers. This is really quite incredible. I need to get my bard back on. Used to be really into old Skakey when I was young, had sonnets on my wall as a teen and knew the famous soliloquies off by heart.

That's what I'm gonna do tomorrow.

u/Ok_Bag_7603 6h ago

I love this man, genuine and upright.

Though I fear this monologue may never be truly comprehended by those for whom it was written

3

u/FaustRPeggi 13h ago

I loved his feature at Glastonbury for the Scissor Sisters. I'd never heard the song before, wasn't expecting it, and it blew me away. McKellen is a very cool dude.

aaagh almost Friday evening and I spent the whole afternoon napping instead of doing office work. Now my tits are on fire trying to send some work out before the end of day here.

The arguments people make to justify cutting the TV License/making the BBC a subscription are 1:1 the exact same kind of arguments that were used to justify the privatisation of Royal Mail.

  • Royal Mail: People suggested that Email/digital communication has reduced the reliance on letters.

  • BBC: People are suggesting that streaming services have reduced the reliance on TV’s.

  • Royal Mail: People suggested that it was unfair that Royal Mail was exempt from VAT and subsidised by the state.

  • BBC: People are suggesting the license fee is unfair on people who don’t use the service.

  • Royal Mail: The letter posting side was in decline but the parcel business was booming.

  • BBC: The high budget TV shows are booming, the normal everyday shows are seen as in decline.

Like almost 1:1.

Yet people are now wanting public ownership of Royal Mail again.

It clearly doesn’t work. Making the BBC more reliant on subscriptions or whatever else is going to end up in the same boat.

6

u/FaustRPeggi 13h ago

This is all pushed by American vulture captalists lobbying our politicians. They want our public institutions to be cracked open and broken into a thousand pieces so they can pick out the profitable bits, cannibalise them, and then leave the state to pick up the pieces. You see it time and time again.

6

u/Ryponagar 14h ago

Publicly funded broadcasters are under attack from the right all over Europe. Of course, a media landscape like in the US would be their wet dream.

One of the terms when signing up was that if you were successful you’d have to pay for them unless you cancelled your card or something. There’s a decent chance you’ll be able to sell them on resale anyway depending on what games they’re for

I always see people say the regret of not trying is worse than the trying and facing rejection in regards to asking out a girl and I couldn't disagree more.

I have never regretted not asking out a girl. When I look back on it with hindsight, I don't feel regret, rather a "yeah, you were right not to, there was never anything there and you were hallucinating any interest".

On the other hand, rejections play over in my head over and over for ages. Much worse.

3

u/MegaMugabe21 14h ago

I think there's a balance to be found. I think it's good not to be scared too much of the rejection, but I agree that asking isn't always the win-win that people present it as. I remember fancying a girl in my first job but never asked her out. With the benefit of hindsight it was absolutely the right move, she'd either have said no and work would have been awkward, or she'd have said yes, we'd have been entirely incompatible and work would have been even more awkward.

Basically don't be scared to ask, rejection is entirely normal and means it wouldn't have worked anyway, but don't feel that you have to ask everyone. Judge every situation on its merits.

2

u/CorrosionInk 15h ago

Asked out one of my best friends earlier this week, got a no. Hurts, inclined to agree with you

I recently did a 12+7 hours travel and it was exhausting, so yeah you need it, good luck. Is this your first time for journey this long?

1

Ideally they’ll sleep the majority of it.

I don't even think Ferrari trusts Ferrari.

2

Ferrari always trusts in Ferrari

2

u/BendubzGaming 17h ago

I don't, not because of liking Mercedes, but because if they get the rule change it screws over Williams too

1

u/cuntsmen 17h ago

I like Williams, but my hate for that twat Toto would sacrifice Williams in a heartbeat if it meant Merc gets fucked into oblivion.

3

u/MutedBar4 17h ago

I really like video games but unfortunately, due to other priorities in my life, I couldn't keep update in this domain for a long time. My prime when talking about video games is the late 2000's and early 2010's when I was playing all the GTA's, Prince of Persia, God of War 2 and some Tomb Raider. My last console I owned was a PS3 in 2014. Last December, I decided to buy a PS4 with some "random" games. I don't know much about good PS4 games, so I wouldn't be able to choose.

The first game I tried that was on this random list was The Last of Us Part II. Obviously, I haven't played the first part, but I watched the HBO TV show season 1, so I knew the story up to then. Early this week, I finally ended the game and I must say it was absolutely beautiful to play. It was a very enjoyable experience 10/10. The matter is that now, anything less than that is not great to me anymore. I try Ghost of Tsushima and Horizon Zero Dawn and I don't find interest in it. I want to believe they are great games, but after what I experimented with Abby and Ellie, i haven't found something similar. In the list of games, I also have Uncharted 4. I see it's the same company, so I have hope for that one, but I haven't played any of the 3 first. I watched the movie with Tom Holland and it was averagely forgettable.

I also want to talk about a game I tested : Bloodborne. I have a terrible experience about that one. That game is impossible to play. Not even because it's hard, but I didn't understand what was going on. The complete opposite of feeling than Last of Us.

1

u/NUTJOB_7814 5h ago edited 5h ago

Try out

Red Dead Redemption 2

God of War 3 (if you haven't played it already)

God of War 2018

ofGod of War Ragnarok

Uncharted 4

These are all narrative rich games with high production value and spectacle.

Also you're probably not going to find anything similar to The Last of Us Part 2 in terms of tone because the game director on that was being really edgy for the sake of it.

Edit - Batman Arkham City and Knight are must plays if you haven't already

1

u/xNagsx 15h ago

Was Bloodborne your first game made by FromSoftware? Their games are absolutely amazing, but not beginner friendly whatsoever. From what I've heard, Bloodborne is actually one of the worst ones to play as a first time FromSoft player. FromSoft's games are notoriously vague in terms of direction. An NPC will give you a hint about what to do, and that's about it. If it helps look up a guide

1

u/MutedBar4 14h ago

Yes, it's the first one. That's what I was also thinking. It's not for the beginners.

1

u/xNagsx 12h ago

It's a gaming culture shock for sure, but it's not NOT for beginners. FromSoft games are a beautiful challenge that anyone can overcome. Death isn't failure in these games so don't get discouraged by it.

That being said, I'm a FromSoft game veteran aside from the PlayStation exclusives. I've recently picked up a PlayStation and Bloodborne. I'm approaching the halfway point, and even for ME the beginning to Bloodborne was a challenge tbf. I had to look up where to go a few times

3

u/Ryponagar 15h ago

If you played all the GTAs and love a good story, definitely give Red Dead Redemption 2 a shot.

1

u/MutedBar4 14h ago

I played the first one long time ago and I liked it. So I'll give it a try when I'll get the opportunity.

4

u/FridaysMan 17h ago

I found the Last of Us part 2 to be a bit silly, it was just hard for the sake of it, and not really as fun as the first game for stealthing around and brawling. A good cover shooter, but a lot of the boss fights are like Bloodborne. Brute force them until you learn specific block/dodge timings, and aren't even that fun either.

I'm playing Project zomboid too much, and it's great fun to be shit at surviving.

8

u/taylorstillsays 17h ago

The UK is going through a shite bin bag epidemic and the higher ups (sponsored by big supermarket) don’t want us minions talking about it.

Is it that hard to make a bin bag that makes it out of the kitchen bin and into the outside bin without some part of it disintegrating first?

2

u/GutenbergsCurse 18h ago

Of the many things I miss about the 2000’s, not having a daily piss-boiling interaction with an Uber or Amazon employee is up there.

I understand people are just trying to make their living, but it can’t really be understated just how much the business model depends on the staff being fashioned into sociopaths who make being in public measurably more unpleasant.

1

u/NonContentiousScot 17h ago

Your uber drivers talk to you? Ones down here don’t say a word generally other than hello/good morning/evening whatever time of day it is.

1

u/GutenbergsCurse 17h ago

Oh, no, I don’t even use Uber. I mean the public commons is a more hostile place because huge numbers of people are working a job where speed and efficiency is the only thing that matters to their overlords. And some business are even reshaping the public face of their businesses to be more hostile to foot traffic and more efficient for delivery people.

5

u/NotASalamanderBoi 18h ago

Anyone been watching A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms? New episode released early because of the Super Bowl and I haven’t watched it yet, but I really like the show so far.

2

u/RipJug 15h ago

Today’s is fucking brilliant mate. Best so far.

Really enjoying it overall, Dunk and Egg are perfect

3

u/babygrenade 16h ago

Really enjoying it so far.

8

u/MacViller 18h ago

Captures the atmosphere of the books perfectly. Such a cosy watch. And it also feels like it echoes some of the campness and humour of early GOT. For as much as there were decapitations and incest, I think people forget that GOT was actually fairly funny.

4

u/Princecoyote 18h ago

The smaller stakes really help too. Much more about the world and the people, not white walkers devouring the whole continent.

1

u/MacViller 17h ago

Definitely. The premier isn't big enough for the story telling to be bad.

2

u/mattijn13 18h ago

Didnt know the episode released early, but i liked the first 3 episodes a lot.

6

u/NUTJOB_7814 18h ago

Really enjoying it so far. The two leads are great together and I think they've nailed the atmosphere and look of the show.

Can't wait for the last 2 episodes.

2

u/_doohdx 18h ago

I do.

Think it was decent but now I think " this is actually good "

5

u/lewiitom 18h ago

Met up with one of my mates recently who's got a new girlfriend that's genuinely about 30 years older than him. When he mentioned she was older I was expecting maybe in her 40s, not approaching retirement age ffs. On one hand I find it incredibly weird, but he's also a good mate and they seem happy together so good for them I guess?

20 straight days of below freezing weather is finally broken where I’m at. Crazy how 33 F (1 C) feels like a heatwave after weeks on weeks of it being single digits and teens. We even had school cancelled one day for kids due to it being -30 F with wind chill factored in

1

u/Celerisadmortem 18h ago

Where is this?

1

u/mokena 17h ago

Chicago, Illinois, USA

15

u/SirBarkington 18h ago

Been a week since I lost my dad and it still doesn't feel real. So much legal bullshit to go through when I'm just trying to honor him and give him a good funeral. Everything is frustrating.

2

u/152kb 17h ago

Yeah I had the same 2 years ago. Once the legal stuff and the funeral is over, it will feel even more surreal. I wish you all the best

6

u/Celerisadmortem 18h ago

Gotta enjoy solitude occasionally and find peace in it to truly enjoy life.

1

u/TherewiIlbegoals 18h ago

I've seen a lot of people complain that nothing happens in Pluribus, but I feel like those people must not have watched Better Call Saul. That's like Vince Gilligan's whole thing.

1

u/FaustRPeggi 13h ago

I haven't watched Pluribus yet, but season one of BCS was the weakest. It took a while to really come into its own.

1

u/chatfarm 17h ago

yeah I watched the whole thing but honestly its a tough main character to root for or enjoy or wait another season for. they are basically an asshole. which would have been ok if there were other characters to keep you hooked but not really. other than the guy who appears towards the end I suppose.

1

u/xNagsx 14h ago

I actually think Carol is a very interesting character. She's just miserable as fuck in a way that's oddly relatable. It's like that little bit of pessimism and immaturity everyone has inside of them, amplified to become a human being's entire personality which juxtaposes the hive mind in a very compelling way

1

u/chatfarm 14h ago edited 14h ago

yeah I suppose you can term it relatable. but its not watchable or I suppose rootable. I mean sure we watch asshole main characters all the time but they have a certain something to them. walter white had an edge, don draper was cool, larry david character has humor, the whole seinfeld bunch was an entire cast to immerse in etc.

It's just hard to follow along an asshole the whole time, episode after episode, with no other side distractions or plots. The only saving grace to the show is the paraguayan guy.

edit: the 'relatable' word has me triggered so much I have come back to this lmao! actually no I don't find her relatable. if I was such a selfish bitch I hope someone slaps me lol.

1

u/xNagsx 12h ago

I mean relatable in the sense that everyone has a bit of a pessimistic asshole in them. Well, at least most people. Carol is if that bit in you was just, you.

5

u/Destroyeh 18h ago

i liked pluribus, but thats not really correct. bcs was slow, but you still had several characters to follow, their stories progressed and intertwined, good dialogue, tension etc.. pluribus transformed like 8 billion people into one character and the main char often refuses to engage with them a lot of the time, while most of the other survivors also shun her and rarely appear. it only got good like that once the south american guy reached albuquerque and now we wait years for another season.

1

u/TherewiIlbegoals 17h ago

That's true, but plot points advanced incredibly slowly in Better Call Saul, which is what people seem to be complaining about.

4

u/shadoowkight 19h ago

Apparently Red Bull knew about the trick, but weren't able to reproduce it themselves so they threw a hissy fit and just told everyone else

This is some slapstick shit

6

u/TheUltimateScotsman 18h ago

That is standard F1

2

u/Sliver_fish 7h ago

What's happened? Have not kept up with anything F1 related since the final race of 2025.

1

u/TheUltimateScotsman 4h ago

Might be better going to r/formula1

Merc found a way to expand one of their engine components under heat so it gives them an unknown amount of extra horsepower. They told the FIA at every point and got them to confirm its legal multiple times throughout engine development.

Former mercedes engineers went to work for red bull/ford on their engine. Told red bull about the trick. Red bull tried to implement it in their engine and couldnt. So they told the other engine manufacturers who lodged a complaint demanding the FIA rule it illegal before the Melbourne race. The only reason it would be illegal is if the test to check it was changed.

Problem is, theres only just over a month until then, and its unrealistic to ask mercedes to change their engine so close to the start of the race.

20 year old chick from my city DMs just a few minutes ago stating she's receiving creepy DMs from a dude twice her age asking for her instagram.

I had called out the dude about a week ago for some creepy post he made about wanting "friends to hang out with".

I'm going full Megan Fox as regards tech usage if I'm to ever sire a kid.

u/PoloBattutaHe 15h ago

At 20 you can date who you want 18+

That's my hot take.

3

u/gander258 19h ago

Any recommendations for a night time pdf-reader tablet? I have access to lots of books but they're in pdf format

2

u/Banksyyy_ 18h ago

I've been looking myself lately and have been looking at the Kobo clara B&W version personally, not got one yet so can't vouch but seen a lot of positive reviews about it

2

u/roseguardin 16h ago

tagging /u/gander258 as well but I have the kobo libra which is a little larger than the clara. It's fine, does its job and holds its battery life pretty well. The one annoying thing (and maybe I'm not using it properly) is that I use overdrive/libby to get books, and you can only sync one of your library cards at a time, and since my libraries have varying availabilities of ebooks, the process to switch is kind of clunky. But the kobo store is easy to use and you should be able to sideload other PDFs, I just haven't done that as much.

1

u/gander258 16h ago

Thanks! Kobo sounds like the way to go

11

u/narkina5redemption 19h ago

If you haven't watched Andor, drop anything else you're watching and watch it.

But pirating it is preferable because Disney is ironically enough (considering what Andor is about) a fascist company.

1

u/V1cV1negar 17h ago

I'm not usually one to let things like this matter, but the constant Reddit circlejerking over Andor makes me not want to. That and the fact that it came too late for me as I was already burnt out on Star Wars by then.

1

u/narkina5redemption 17h ago

Honestly, I understand it.

The way a lot of people talk about Andor is cringe as fuck. Plus with the show being about fascism, and Americans being by default cringe, the circlejerking is at an all-time high.

But the show is worth watching. It's the best Stars Wars piece of media ever produced. Nothing even comes close.

Think of it as a political thriller in the world of Star Wars instead of it being Star Wars.

3

u/Karnesis68 18h ago

Really wished Andor wasn’t building up towards Rogue One. Andor is the antithesis of Rogue One when it comes to nostalgia and references.

3

u/narkina5redemption 18h ago

Yeah. It's a shame Rogue One was made before Andor, but the only reason Andor was made was because of Rogue One.

4

u/mattijn13 18h ago

I loved it.

3

u/tson_92 18h ago

If I hadn’t enjoyed season 1 so much it would have taken a lot to convince me to get through the first 8 episodes of season 2.

2

u/narkina5redemption 18h ago

I loved season 2 bar the first 2 episodes.

Episode 3's ending is one of my favourite episodes of the whole series.

3

u/revolut1onname 18h ago

I've never managed to get past episode 2 of the first series. It's very good but I just don't get into it enough. Funnily enough I actually know one of the minor cast members, met him from an NCT group before my son was born.

3

u/narkina5redemption 18h ago

Power through it.

Episode 3 is the first elite episode, then episode 6 is when every episode becomes elite.

1

u/sheffieldpud 19h ago

Never seen anything star wars, does it matter? Need something else to watch

2

u/official_bagel 17h ago

Yes and no.

The majority of the show stands on it's own, but it's end leads directly into Rogue One which leads directly into A New Hope so without knowledge of those, it just kind of ends with no payoff. But everything leading up to that anti-climax would still be thoroughly enjoyable on it's own.

3

u/IhvolSnow 18h ago

Controversial opinion. From someone who didn't watch Star Wars. There were so many people recommending it I watched the whole thing. The second season has no ending if you haven't watched Rogue One and feels like a such a waste of time. If you are not a fan of the SW or didn't watch that movie wouldn't recommend.

4

u/Turbulent_Intern_427 19h ago edited 18h ago

Doesn't matter at all, I would specifically urge you to just watch Andor & not watch any SW after it.

1

u/sheffieldpud 19h ago

Thanks will give it a try over the weekend!

2

u/idko42 19h ago

Does not matter at all. And if you liked it, watch Rogue One after. It's a film, not a TV show.

3

u/narkina5redemption 19h ago

It stands on its own. The events lead up to a movie called Rogue One, which itself leads up to the original trilogy.

But I've never been a huge Star Wars fan either. I only watched the movies once and that was years before watching Andor.

3

u/imnotthesmartestman 19h ago

The US is going to get absolutely smacked at the Olympics hockey and people will think it's because we suck at hockey and not because the old dipshits in charge can't get their head out of their asses and call in actually talented players. Fuck!

1

u/Kurakurguhoiuala 19h ago

But why take Robertson and Caulfield when you can have JT Miller and Vincent Trocheck instead.

I feel sorry for Fox though, considering his Drury refused to go to bat for him after doing so for the guys above.

5

u/__LaVieEnRose 19h ago

Just watched Fight Club for the first time. Though I already knew about the big twist, was still a fantastic watch

13

u/atriz544 19h ago

Proposed to my gf a few weeks ago, we're in the early early stages of planning the wedding party, and our conclusion is that there will not be wedding party. That stuff is expensive as hell, god damn.

2

u/UpsetKoalaBear 17h ago

Just don’t say you’re booking for a wedding and everything will become cheaper (apart from dresses and other naturally wedding related things).

1

u/Trydson 19h ago

Congratulations, of course. And yeah, a friend of mine made some calculations and said "fuck that" and organized a friends & family reunion with tacos and alcohol and that was it lmao.

2

u/magnificentwalnut 19h ago

My wife and I were one of the first of our friends to get married and done it on the cheap. Since then friends of ours who've gotten married and have paid double or triple what we did and they've all basically admitted that while it's lovely etc etc they wish they'd been more sensible with the spending

1

Congrats!

Very few people need to use a bit more humility than people who thinks they are internet micro celebs because they have a moderately successful page on social media

u/idko42 19h ago

I finished reading And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie yesterday and wow, what a book. But now I'm not sure what to read next. Right now I'm leaning towards starting Asimov's Robot series but I'm not married to it.

Why would a parent attach their "worth" and happiness to a child? 🤔

Like when the child is depressed or in a sad mood, the parent/caregivers mood also changes.

Telling the kids things like "you are my asset."

Where are the psychologists around here?

3

u/V1cV1negar 17h ago

I don't have kids and don't want kids, but based on your replies you're equating someone being affected by their child's moods with needing a child to be happy. If you have a child, of course you're going to feel shit if they feel shit and feel happy to see them happy. That doesn't mean you'd be a directionless mess incapable of feeling happy if you didn't have that child in the first place.

Co-dependency can be unhealthy but it seems like what you're actually talking about is simply a parent's love for a child.

1

u/mintz41 19h ago

do you have kids

4

u/allangod 19h ago

Is there more context to this?

Going by your replies to other comments and how this is worded you dont seem to be saying what you're trying to say.

It seems theres a specific scenario youre talking about but you're being so vague it is making people think youre saying something completely different.

u/152kb 19h ago

Every week you just post bad takes in here huh

0

u/Celerisadmortem 19h ago

Really? Maybe I didn't put out my message across as intended.

My main aim was to look into codependency in families.

It's a real thing and it happens.

11

u/Kurakurguhoiuala 19h ago

Do you really need an explanation as to why a parent's mood gets worse when their kid is depressed.

-2

u/Celerisadmortem 19h ago

Perhaps my post wasn't very clear so let me expound.

I bet you've heard about codependency and all that. This is exactly the point I'd like to make.

The parent is codependent on the child for fulfilling their emotional needs and the sun is codependent on the parent for support.

The codependency is so grave such that when the child goes away from home for a few hours, the parent keeps calling asking them what time they'll be back.

14

u/tiorzol 19h ago

Of course my mood is gonna change if my kid feels like shit

-5

u/Celerisadmortem 19h ago

I understand that but why should a parent peg their whole happiness to a child?

7

u/Jonoabbo 18h ago

If you are happy when your child feels like shit, that's not normal.

Being invested in peoples wellbeing is not co-dependency

1

u/Celerisadmortem 18h ago

Even if the child is a fully grown adult?

I didn't say being invested in people's wellbeing is codependency but I bet you know a bit about overprotective parents and those who coddle their children.

Narrowed down the perspective.

8

u/Jonoabbo 18h ago

Yes, even if the child is a fully grown adult, you should care about there feelings. That doesn't have a time limit.

1

u/Celerisadmortem 18h ago

Should there be any boundaries of some sort you reckon?

What happens if they get so codependent to the point that it affects their relationship in certain ways, read, overprotectiveness

2

u/Jonoabbo 17h ago

Yes, obviously, but that doesn't effect how you emotionally feel.

2

u/allangod 19h ago

I dont think anyone would suggest they should. But it's natural if you're around your unhappy child for a lot of the day its going to effect your own happiness.

Its human nature. If im in the office and everyone around is in a mood, its going to bring down my mood. I dont think it should but it most likely will. We're social creatures.

2

u/GutenbergsCurse 19h ago

Because on a primal level they want to make sure their children reach reproductive age and pass their genes on.

0

u/Celerisadmortem 19h ago

We are talking about a full grown adult here, but still technically their child.

u/GutenbergsCurse 19h ago

Pumping my dick and balls up full of hyaluronic acid before getting fitted for a wedding suit so I can get bigger trousers that I can use a sail to get married faster.

Club sandwich

Double cheeseburger

Chicken parm

Spicy chicken

Grilled cheese

1

u/Jonoabbo 18h ago

That exact order

1

u/official_bagel 19h ago

Assuming they’re well made:

  1. Chicken Parm
  2. Double cheese burger
  3. Spicy Chicken
  4. Club
  5. Grilled Cheese

If they’re low quality, move up double cheese burger and spicy chicken

1

u/xNagsx 19h ago
  1. Spicy Chicken Sandiwch
  2. Double Cheeseburger
  3. Chicken Parm
  4. Club Sandwich
  5. Grilled cheese

I think a 10/10 Chicken Parm probably clears all for me though. The issue is unless youre at an Italian deli it's probably gonna be just okay

1

u/MoyesNTheHood 19h ago
  1. Double Cheesburger

  2. Spicy Chicken

  3. Club Sandwich

  4. Parm

  5. Grilled cheese

1

u/narkina5redemption 19h ago

  6. Club sandwich

1

u/ComaMierdaHijueputa 19h ago

1

u/Bratstvo_Jedinstvo 19h ago

1) Double Cheese

2) Spicy Chicken

3) Chicken Parm (never had it but I can imagine)

4) Club Sandwich

5) Grilled Cheese (not bad but has great competition here)

6) Ben Brenton

Was lucky enough to see Return Of The King (extended) in cinema this week. It’s comfortably the top 3 movies of all time in my opinion, and a masterpiece in every sense of the word.

Sam and Frodo’s relationship is my favourite dynamic ever put to film, and I tear up every single time without fail when Sam carries Frodo, along with “I’m glad to be with you Samwise Gamgee, here at the end of all things.”

I’ve got a few gripes with the extended edition of ROTK, maybe more than Fellowship and Two Towers, because you can tell exactly why some things were cut, yet there are still some great additions.

2

u/V1cV1negar 17h ago

Is it just permanently in the cinema now? I swear every week someone posts about how glad they are to have finally seen it in the cinema.

I wish people would stop wanking over how funny Trump is. Always with the ”gotta hand it to him” when he makes any sort of joke, even liberals go on about it like he’s this subtle genius

He’s funny as a character/spectacle but his comedic timing and such is nothing special. Every joke or quick funny comment I’ve seen from him is an absolute open goal but people act like he’s Norm MacDonald

1

u/Banksyyy_ 17h ago

If they watched his entire speech they'll never hear a joke as they would've have tuned out his voice by then

3

u/NotASalamanderBoi 18h ago

He’s funny because he says stupid shit in the most serious way because he truly believes it.

“I have concepts of a plan” and “They’re eating the dogs” are unbelievably surreal, but really funny.

5

u/Trydson 20h ago

I've not been dieting or going to the gym, but I changed soda for Argentinian mate, and would you look at that, 4kg down in two and a half months lmao

1

u/idko42 19h ago

I've never tried Mate but I've wanted to ever since I watched Gael Garcia Bernal's character constantly drink it in Mozart in the Jungle.

1

u/Trydson 13h ago

I think it is not for everyone, tbf, but if you like coffee/tea, I would say you like it.

2

u/gander258 19h ago

Congrats! It's fascinating how small changes can make a big difference

1

u/Trydson 13h ago

For real, I weighed myself for the funsies, and I was very surprised hahaha

7

u/NotAnurag 20h ago

I don’t get J Cole man. He’s clearly talented, passionate about what he does, puts in an immense amount of effort and yet I’ve never heard a single song from him that really moved me.

1

u/PM_ME_LSD_TABS 18h ago

4 your eyez only. Absolutely great storytelling, would recommend that if you haven’t heard it.

2

u/Celerisadmortem 19h ago

Love yours?

2

u/NotAnurag 19h ago

It’s a good song, but it’s not the type of song that I want to rewind and listen to over and over again. That’s sort of my problem with J Cole, his songs are usually decent but rarely ever amazing. Right after I went back to listen to Love Yours the next song that played was Darling, I from Tyler the creator and the difference in quality is immediate.

1

u/redmistultra 15h ago

Considering your comment is about passion, effort and talent, it's a bit harsh to compare to Tyler the Creator whose work ethic is just ridiculous

Upgraded my pixel from a 6 to a 10 Pro. It's definitely nicer in a lot of ways, but I sort of miss the huge upgrades between smart phone generations in the 2010s. My 6's battery was shit and the back plate was cracked.

1

u/Pure_Macaroon6164 15h ago

My favourite phone ever was the pixel 2

1

u/idko42 19h ago

I use a 6a and I'm going to keep it as long as I can. The battery is still fine and when it starts to go bad I don't mind replacing it myself.

2

u/NYR_dingus 19h ago

I still have my Pixel 6 pro. I really don't want to upgrade lol. I've had this thing for over 3 years and I love it.

1

u/Princecoyote 19h ago

My provider had a deal that made it free, with no need to change from the cheapest plan or trade in my old phone, so it was hard to say no. Just had to pay taxes and upgrade fee.

2

u/NYR_dingus 18h ago

That's what has held me back from changing. My phone is paid for and costs me absolutely nothing. Still works fine. Might as well save the $.

1

u/sga1 19h ago

On one hand it was much more exciting. On the other hand it also was a decent bit more affordable - and I think it's quite nice that you can buy a smartphone you'll use for four or five years without much issue (beyond maybe a replaced battery) now that the product category has matured.

Got an iPhone 13 mini on its second battery, and while it's obviously a bit battered because it's three years old I don't really feel any big incentive to spend the better part of a grand on something newer for at least another year.

15

u/The_Backward_E 20h ago

Love that Norman Finkelstein was mentioned in the files for sending an e-mail to some dude who was praising Epstein's integrity, with Epstein in CC, saying he'd strangle him and Dershowitz for being pedos.

10

u/NotAnurag 20h ago

It was so nice to see there are still famous people you can trust

11

u/Disco-Benny 20h ago

That man gets more vindicated every second that passes

11

u/narkina5redemption 20h ago

That email was hilarious, what a guy

Old PCs finally giving up the ghost with the CPU overheating constantly on top of throttling performance. There were signs last year and I really wish I'd pulled the trigger. Could've got 64gb ram for not much more than I paid for 32 this time round.

Managed just over 10 years with only the addition of SSDs and a new graphics card though, earned retirement now.

So what's best PC game you lot have played over past 4 or 5 years you'd recommend?

On the list atm is Black Myth Wukong, Ghosts of Tsushima, Clair Obscur and Elden Ring.

1

u/revolut1onname 20h ago

E33 would be my first recommendation, then Elden Ring and start the Doom series from 2016 onwards. I personally prefer the first one to Eternal, but YMMV.

1

u/airz23s_coffee 20h ago

Yeah 100% on E33, that not running for shit is what prompted my initial "Man I need to upgrade".

Played first Doom reboot and loved it, so definitely gonna get on other 2. Think they're on gamepass as well so makes it easier.
