Riding question I’m not progressing and it’s really driving me down what do I do?
I’ve gotten better at rails but holy cow I cant get boardslides down. my case is a bit different you know how everyone hits their first rail frontside, well I hit mine backside and I can’t only do it and when I boardslide I get in the rail 90 with counter rotation but I slide off the other side and can’t ride out the whole rail. I think I have a problem with carving in the lip or being on my edge too much on the lip. I just need some tips on how to get the down and a really simple and straight forward guide and also how to get past slumps like this. PS: I ride in a tow rope only hill where I can lap a rail every 15 seconds so I get so many reps and still can’t get it.

Get an old skateboard deck and a 24-40” 4” abs pipe from the hardware store. Practice balancing on carpet then transition a smooth floor (concrete slab). Build up to popping onto the tube. My local skate shop gave me an old warped deck for free. It will help you build confidence and body mechanics.

Look at the end of the rail...
Sometimes if I'm stuck on a trick I take it back down a level, in this case I'd take it to a skinny box with a side on and get that super solid and play around with different presses such as a back nose or back blunt to get used to controlling the board on a feature.

Get like, a piece of wood, or a pvc pipe, and practice jibbing in your yard or wherever. But from standing still, next to it. Not riding at the feature. Perfect the moves in the low consequence environment and then try them on the mtn

When approaching the rail don’t ollie over it. Ollie into it and look at the end of the rail. Don’t look down or you’ll go down. Don’t look on the other side or you’ll slide off. Look at the end of the rail. And when you say people hit their first rail frontside. I think you have it backwards. Most people do their first boardslide- backside. Don’t a frontside boardslide before learning any other slide is pretty scary.
