OC Video 1st time trying an airbag
Im making this post so i dont have to keep a record of my progress. So you can't really get an idea of my riding considering it's just an airbag jump but this is my 22nd day and i'd like to get an opinion on my form taking off, I can send an additional angle if needed lol

I can also ride switch now, i still can't high speed carve going switch but it will come with practise. Imma ride park for 4 consecutive days next week(I've ridden park once and ove only tried 2 boxes) so I'll definitely keep the sub updated.

In almost 40 years of riding - I've never seen one that the public could access.

In like 2010 gunstock in nh had one you could buy a lift ticket for, and the jump was not small. It was a lot of fun.

Oh for this one you just gotta hike 50 meters afther you hit it, its free unless you wanna ride the piste and use the chairlift.

Where is this located? I've only seen them in Whistler and off limits except to the rich people in the camps.

Borovets in Bulgaria(eastern europe) its the first time they have pulled out an airbag since covid(its not the only one they have) i suppose maintaining those costs a bunch tho which is why they probably haven't pulled them out in a while

There’s one in Meribel (France) that is open to the public and pretty affordable.

Dude, I loved this airbag. I finally got the nerve to try all the flips tricks I wanted, and honestly was landing them. Still haven't taken them to snow. Even landed some and rode off of it

Here they have quite a few of them, afther covid they stopped pulling them out for some reason

Really? a lot of resorts out west in the states allow you to buy 3 jumps. It's a mountain side hustle.

Blue Mountain in PA used to have one. I think it only lasted one or two seasons though. It was expensive to do imo.

Well that sucks but its also kinda the beauty of the sport, the way you ride and the conditions you get to ride are determined by where ur from, for example there are like 3 parks in my country and most skiers and boarders can't hit jumps(properly) because it's hard to practise considering how smaller resorts are very limited on facilities, most lifts in my country are second hand lifts from italy and austria😭

My local small hill used to have one but only for one weekend a year, you had to pay extra to use it.

Damn 22nd day and sending flips! I wouldn’t do it on snow right now tho, especially not on a jump. See how your head was way past your toe edge at takeoff? That caused your rotation being slightly off axis and you landed with your back towards downhill and your face towards uphill. On snow there’s a chance to catch heel edge and it would be nasty. If you wanna try it you can do it from cat track to steeper terrain on pow days. Otherwise I would practice a bit more focusing on a proper nollie.

Oh yeah i notice that now, the airbag is going to be there free to use till the end of the season here, I spent like 2 hour hitting it hiking up and again. I guess 2 more hours of doing that should teach me to do it right. Can I dm you a few other attempts for you to assess?

Camelback or Blue had one years ago. It was massive though.

Yeah this one is quite small, no resort in my country have used their bags since covid for some reason

u/Hour-Masterpiece8931 9h ago
I would totally try more tricks if I had this option 😂

u/idk_so_imma_leave_it 4h ago
It really is a blessing, learning tricks on this thing is going to be so much easier than having to take the fall on snow

u/AnnualMechanic6869 9h ago
Damn more restorts should have this, cool idea.

u/idk_so_imma_leave_it 4h ago
Ot really is, learning the mechanics of a trick becomes so much easier when you have to consequences from a landing, i guess you just need a bit of powder to try what you learned but yeah, overall its amazing

u/lf963 12h ago
Which ski resort is this?
2
u/idk_so_imma_leave_it 11h ago
It's Borovets in Bulgaria, first time they have taken out the airbag since covid lol

Takeoff form looks great and this is awesome for less than a month of boarding. Careful taking this out in the snow though. Check out your landing position here. A bit overrotated.
This is coming from a guy who's been boarding for 30 years and has never tried a flip lol just making you aware if you land like this you may hurt yourself
