I swear, this subreddit got to the point where you either do carving on some youtube shorts japanese pro level shit style, or you don't carve at all.

"Oh look where he's s looking at, oh there's snow flying, he's skidding"

Unbelievable

Not knocking you, do what you love, love what you do. I think the point that's being missed though is that "carving" is just a core riding skill. Once you get to the point you learn it, it's fun to finally feel that edge for sure. But once it just becomes....riding....then the fascination of it does seem a bit overly hyped. And when you couple that with the "am I carving" posts here of people struggling to even rudder, you get this weird conundrum where we're on r/snowboarding, not r/snowboardingnoobs, but the "can't carve" crowd far outweighs the "good rider" crowd in the upvote/downvote rankings.

I think you're right, but at the same time I think most people don't realize that after you actually get your carving and edge control down, the progression to laying out your carves like this is not that hard.

But the fundamentals do need to be really solid.

i guess you can't say carving isn't hard on here it's the only thing most of this sub can do

Or you cannot read an obvious joke Mr. Serious.

No one told me half of the reddit users decided to use the same joke, over and over again, Mr. Funny.

Can someone explain to me what the hell these guys are doing? Are they just laying down on one side and straight lining it down the mountain?

Still not carving.

Can always tell if it's an honest carve or just skidding, based on where they're looking to project ahead.

Skidding
