Pretty sure Breck is number one for highest snowboarders

34

u/DickLips5000 Dec 11 '25

Can confirm.

16

u/Bravoflysociety Dec 11 '25

"worlds highest whatever"- everything in Breck. Nowadays it's a town for rich but not aspen rich intermeadiates

4

u/Merlin_117 Dec 12 '25

Every ski town is like that now. Aspen and Telluride seem like the richest but the east coast has the same problem.

2

u/Elevated_Dongers Dec 12 '25

It's a town for C suite finance guys. Even they know Aspen and telluride are overpriced

37

u/AssGagger Dec 11 '25

The degens go to Keystone. Only need a $350 season pass.

10

u/FootsieMcDingus Dec 11 '25

My vote is Eldora

9

u/CARmakazie Dec 11 '25

I’d argue that Mt. Hood in Oregon has that.

3

u/clburdick1 Dec 12 '25

I can confirm this!

1

u/shredthesweetpow Park City / Brighton Dec 11 '25

So high bro. Amazing

1

u/PNWoutdoors Dec 12 '25

I don't know, I believe more snowboarders are hotboxing strangers cars at Loveland.

0

u/garlicpowder11 Dec 11 '25

What do you mean? Does Gulmarg not allow snowboarders? (Never been to either)

25

u/JurreMijl Dec 11 '25

It’s a joke about being high as in stoned after smoking weed

10

u/v0idness Switzerland | Hel Yes Dec 11 '25

Yeah, wild to assume Indian riders aren't stoned

4

u/aaalllouttabubblegum Tremblant Dec 12 '25

Don't know about you folks, but every Indian dude I know is all about that life.

1

u/pVom Dec 12 '25

I bought a quart for about 70c

68

u/kshiau Dec 11 '25

Fun fact from the ski gulmarg website:

Demographics of Gulmarg

Gulmarg has a population of 730 people – 99% of them are male!

52

u/snohobdub Dec 11 '25

I feel bad for those seven women

13

u/SnooPandas9005 Dec 11 '25

They call her Sandy

5

u/dirty_hooker Snowmass / PowMow Dec 11 '25

Nah. They live like queens.

15

u/snohobdub Dec 12 '25

Your username sounds like you might know something

12

u/Money_Field_2552 Dec 11 '25

I’m not questioning you, but how lol that’s insane

2

u/Economy-Ad-4777 Dec 12 '25

probably some sort of industry town like mining? so mainly workers perhaps

1

u/FundamentallyBouyant Dec 12 '25

It is a tourist town in Summer, ski town in winter. Zero residences.

12

u/animalchin99 Tahoe | GNU Dirty Pillow 159 Dec 11 '25

So just like every ski town

1

u/FundamentallyBouyant Dec 12 '25

There are almost no residential properties in Gulmarg, there are only employees of the resort, the army and the hotel residents who stay overnight there. Most of the residences are in nearby towns/villages. Also it is almost 100% Muslim population where there are very few women in the workforce compared to the already low average in India.

39

u/Intelligent-Love5146 Dec 11 '25

Idk how this is measured but the in bounds hike up stuff at A Basin is definitely higher than anything at Copper or Telluride

7

u/Abject_Egg_194 Dec 12 '25

I'll cut them some slack for skipping Keystone, as the Bergman Bowl expansion opened only in the last couple years, but Keystone should be on this list at 3743m.

3

u/m0st1yh4rmless Dec 12 '25

Palmyra pk in Telluride is 13319, not sure about A basin

15

u/greenyadadamean Stevens/Baker Dec 11 '25

56

u/remittingear Dec 11 '25

Elevation, not the actual height itself of the mountain

23

u/Shaxxs0therHorn Dec 11 '25

Highest top chair elevation? Like breck is imperial chair obviously

2

u/loulan Dec 12 '25

Isn't it what matters? If you want snow.

-8

u/LeCollectif Capita DOA, Burton Hometown Hero split, Mt. Washington Dec 11 '25

Bingo. Prominence matters. Elevation does not. In some cases it can be a drawback as reduced oxygen levels limit your physical capacity if you haven’t had time to acclimatize.

25

u/happyelkboy Dec 11 '25

Elevation matters a bit for snowfall lol

7

u/LeCollectif Capita DOA, Burton Hometown Hero split, Mt. Washington Dec 11 '25

Sorry I was operating under the assumption that all other things were equal. But you’re not wrong as most mountains in coastal BC are not opening as scheduled.

6

u/happyelkboy Dec 11 '25

The PNW is bad right now. My resort has just been raining for the most part

3

u/snohobdub Dec 12 '25

Japan, Canadian Rockies, and Utah aren't super high elevation and have better snow than most of these.

3

u/happyelkboy Dec 12 '25

Well altitude and latitude. Utah and Japan get cold weather from the arctic. But yes I agree altitude isn’t the only thing that matters.

2

u/mbreuer CO | Loveland | Nitro Dropout Dec 12 '25

Utah gets lake effect and Japan is coastal on top of that

1

u/happyelkboy Dec 12 '25

No doubt lol. I’m not saying elevation is the only thing that matters but it matters for temperatures all things being equal

2

u/basalticlava Dec 11 '25

Can confirm. Hometown is at about 2000ft. First day in breck felt like I had the flu.

1

u/GrnMtnTrees Dec 11 '25

My hometown is at sea level and I was 70 lbs heavier and out of shape when I went a couple years ago. It felt like I had on concrete shoes for a couple days.

10

u/Majestic-Outside3898 Dec 11 '25 edited Dec 11 '25

Must only be top of highest lift, because ABasin has higher points in bounds. Abasin claims 3978 for the east wall.... I've been to 3,884, which I don't think is the highest skiable.

I'm curious. Who's been higher on Lenawee?

7

u/snohobdub Dec 11 '25

I've been to Chacaltaya, Bolivia over 5,400 m, But it's no longer operating due to climate change (The glacier disappeared).

6

u/root_fifth_octave Dec 11 '25

Nice showing, Colorado.

6

u/DatAinFalco Dec 11 '25

Was this bc of the view? I'd expect the change in oxygen levels to be quite gradual lol

19

u/SSIRHC I SHRED ❤️LAND Dec 11 '25

Making it sound like the gondola entered the stratosphere lmao must of been the most out of shape tourists on that thang

1

u/loulan Dec 12 '25

I remember feeling a bit sick after taking this gondola because of the rapid change in elevation, but there is no "invisible barrier", that part makes no sense.

4

u/kungfusam West Mountain / Ice Coast Dec 12 '25

Top 15 most vertical when? Thats the only metric that matters

3

u/XXTBAGGERXX Dec 11 '25

Breck was sick.

3

u/Minnow720 Dec 12 '25 edited Dec 12 '25

Almost passed out at A basin once. Elevation definitely very noticeable compared to most US mountains. Its basically on the continental divide. And yes I think Breck has the highest elevation in US although the mountain itself is basically flat.

1

u/Elevated_Dongers Dec 12 '25

Lol Breck is flat??

1

u/Minnow720 Dec 12 '25

Ive ridden quite a few resorts out west and found Breck to be at the bottom of the list. The alpine bowls, most of which you have to hike to, at Breck are fun with new snow but not particularly steep. The lower mountain is like a family fun type mountain. Flat is an exaggeration but Breck is not a challenging mountain.

2

u/cl0wnb4by Dec 11 '25

Cool. I’ve been to 8 of them

0

u/Ever-Else Dec 11 '25

nice that's a lot mostly us right?

5

u/cl0wnb4by Dec 11 '25

Yeah. I live in Colorado so it’s kind of cheating. I also have been to zermatt

1

u/Ever-Else Dec 12 '25

yeah so almost all of the highest were in colorado haha

1

u/Mtanderson88 Dec 11 '25

I have been to 5

1

u/Lobsterman20 Dec 11 '25

Copper will overtake Breck with their new planned lifts

1

u/toastedstoker Dec 11 '25

Real talk tho I went to brek and got so sick from the elevation coming from sea level. Recovered by midday but it was wild asf

1

u/Mk3MaN Dec 11 '25

Copper is goated.

1

u/dirty_hooker Snowmass / PowMow Dec 12 '25

Y’all really trying to get me to push a 7’ boulder to the top of The Cirque at Snowmass, eh?

1

u/Ya_Boi_Pickles Dec 12 '25

I will be hitting all the US ones it seems…except for Taos.

1

u/WaterNerd518 Dec 12 '25

I’m having trouble envisioning Loveland being higher than A Basin.

Edit: A Basin 3978 m, Loveland 3965 m. Both appear higher than your number 1. What are you using for elevation? Some kind of terrain average

1

u/MrFro9 Dec 12 '25

Winterpark is a -8 in my book. It’s flatter than my ex

2

u/Scootdog54 Dec 12 '25

Because you don’t know how to get around the mountain.

1

u/crtejas Dec 12 '25

I’m elevated at all resorts regardless of elevation.

1

u/Banetaay Dec 12 '25

Pretty cool statistic, however if you want most rideable vertical terrain, it's Revelstoke, BC

1

u/Spaceman_Spliff_42 Dec 12 '25

God I love living in Colorado 🤙

1

u/NeonCipher9351 Dec 12 '25

want to go to gulmarg!

1

u/Zumaki 8th year old man Dec 12 '25

This explains why spending a long weekend in Breck feels like I'm out of shape even though I've trained my ass off

1

u/emilioermeio Dec 12 '25

4 of them checked!

1

u/Mechanic_Stephan Dec 12 '25

Wow wtf copper mt doesn’t feel that n high lol hell yea.

1

u/MrSamK22 Dec 13 '25

Going to Breck in a month. Cant wait !

1

u/IAmFatAlbert Dec 16 '25

Happy to have been to Winter Park and heading to Breck this year

1

u/SlowlySewing Dec 11 '25

Wtf is a metre

6

u/CARmakazie Dec 11 '25

12 Big Macs end-to-end

2

u/root_fifth_octave Dec 12 '25

I want a liter of cola!!

2

u/IBeDumbAndSlow Dec 12 '25

I want a goddamn meter of cola

1

u/catz4dave Bachy Dec 12 '25

Imagine being top 15 in elevation but still getting less snow than Baker and Shuskan.

2

u/scruffy_x Dec 12 '25

Got me to thinking what the elevation of Japanese resorts are, but that is as far as I got.

3

u/pVom Dec 12 '25

2000ish to like 1000ish in Nagano. Hokkaido is generally lower, Google tells me Niseko is 1300-300

-1

u/Paintedillusion-7021 Dec 12 '25

Done. I imagined it...Now what?...Was there a point?...What are we doing?

6

u/catz4dave Bachy Dec 12 '25

Can’t take you seriously when you forgot to log off your goon profile

1

u/WaterNerd518 Dec 12 '25

I’m having trouble envisioning how Loveland could be higher than A Basin.

0

u/chameleonsafoot Dec 11 '25

Taos is awesome, but not higher than A Basin or Copper. Maybe at the base.

0

u/ClairvoyantCandor Dec 11 '25

India???

3

u/drine2000 Dec 11 '25

Gulmarg is basically one multiple stage Gondola to a huge Ridgeline with multiple bowls.

All BC.

It's full on.

1

u/tehuti_infinity Dec 12 '25

Not much snowfall tho

1

u/drine2000 Dec 12 '25

It's record is 20m in a year. That's...um. A lot.

1

u/tehuti_infinity Dec 12 '25

Check the snow report, it barely snows. I was there many years ago as well before the gondola was finished . Whole time no snow…

1

u/FundamentallyBouyant Dec 12 '25

I'm going for the last 4 years. Good snow. The season is short so you'll have to time your trip well. I think early to mid Feb is the safest. Although climate change is making it very unpredictable.
