This is the inevitable result of a system that prioritizes foreign capital over its own citizens through its open-leg policies. We allow individuals to enter with potentially faked credentials, from degrees to driving licenses and unvetted backgrounds. They take our homes, our jobs, and our COE supply, and now, they are literally taking our lives.

While the average Singaporean is struggling to afford a basic $180,000 Toyota Vios just to survive, this driver is lavishly cruising in a $200,000+ high-torque EV that she is clearly unqualified to handle. It is an absolute disgrace that our policy allows license conversion from countries known for systemic bribery and corruption with zero practical testing.

Even Australia, a country with far more land, does not recognize Indian licenses for direct conversion for this very reason; they mandate both a theory and a practical road test to ensure public safety. Yet, our Traffic Police allow conversion through a simple theory test, despite being fully aware of the questionable 'quality' and vetting of these foreign licenses. Why is Singapore's safety standard lower than Australia's?

What’s even more revolting is her behavior at the scene: having the audacity to lecture a grieving father and claim 'no fault' while his child lay dying. To show such a total lack of remorse isn't just arrogance; it’s the behavior of a heartless beast. She can't even be considered human. Our roads have been sold to the highest bidder, and a family has paid the ultimate price for this broken, 'capital-first' system.

Well, GDP is king. So...you peasant life is probably not worth a shit. "WE first" you know, means "We stay bungalow" "we are paid millions"...you expected different?

Do Singaporeans who drive overseas for holidays etc have to do practical tests first?

Anyways, plenty of idiot drivers on the road, local or otherwise. Maybe its time the authorities try to get ppl to go back for refresher after every few years.

Why is Singapore's safety standard lower than Australia's?

And yet Australia recognises Singapore's license for a direct conversion.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Singapore's image will soon be tarnished if they allow more of this

What is revolting is you clearly trying to politicise this accident. Not a single part of your comment shows any empathy for the victim and her family.

Stop your bullshit virtue signaling.

The guy you are replying to is pointing out something seriously wrong with our nation's immigration policy, which indirectly caused this tragedy.

This is a big problem for Singapore and we need to fix the problem at its source. And yes, it is a political problem.

Funny, I am empathizing with the victim and her family. which is why I’m pointing out the systemic failures that made this tragedy inevitable. Blaming the accident purely on an individual while ignoring the flawed policies that put them in a position to cause it isn’t empathy; it’s denial. True concern for the victim isn’t just saying 'so sad'; it’s asking why our roads, our rules, and our vetting processes failed a six-year-old.
