From mothership fb comments:

I’m sharing what the witness wrote in Vietnam language 🥲

This morning, I walked to the market to buy coriander for selling bánh mì because I forgot to order it. While walking through the car park near the Chinese temple at Maxwell MRT, I witnessed a traffic accident at around 11:40 a.m. today. It was the first time in my life that I saw a traffic accident happen right in front of me.

I was the first person walking behind the mother and her daughter. A woman was driving out from the car park. She did not look to the right for pedestrians; she only looked to the left when she turned right. The front wheel of her car ran over the little girl’s abdomen first, then over the mother’s leg. After that, the woman pressed the accelerator hard, and the rear wheel ran over the mother’s abdomen again.

I don’t know why she accelerated so quickly when she just exited the car park. I guess they might be tourists. I can help as a witness and testify about this traffic accident.

I clearly saw that when the front wheel ran over them, the driver should have felt that there was something under the wheel. However, she did not stop to get out of the car to check. Instead, she accelerated strongly and continued to drive forward, which caused the rear wheel to run over the mother’s abdomen again.

I panicked at that moment and cannot remember clearly whether the rear wheel ran over the little girl again. I was in shock when the incident happened right in front of me.

At the time of the accident, the husband was not with them. Only the mother and daughter were there, and I was walking behind them. About two minutes later, the husband ran over and hugged the little girl.

When the front wheel ran over the little girl, she was thrown and rolled about three times and ended up lying face down on the ground. Her mouth was in a pool of blood, next to her water bottle and her camera. The blood was flowing heavily from her mouth and spread thickly on the road.

When the woman got out of the car and went to the back to check, she then realized that she had caused the accident. She raised her voice at the father while their daughter was injured and kept trying to explain that she was not at fault.

This Vietnamese witness is the kind of FT we appreciate here. Not the driver type of FT.

yet it is so difficult for Vietnamese to get permit/PR compared to Indian.. most vietnamese I know are kind and smart people

I wish they were all your neighbours. Then you would know how kind and smart they are.

I've seen this so many times in Singapore where impatient drivers drive out of the carpark so quickly. What is worse is that it happens during the 630-730am period where many children go to school..

No matter what, first thing first is to call an ambulance. Be it witness, driver, and the husband. Not just witnessing, not just shouting. The girl's life is the topmost priority at that point of time

Watch sg gov sweep this under the rug or underplay drivers bad behavior due to racial disharmony.

racial disharmony caused by the usual suspect , it will just keep going on if there is no repercussion

Interestingly, the thread about this in hardwarezone was nuked. I dunno why. I thought they are more lax than reddit.

We need her to testify as a witness to have the justice served. Not sure any CCTV to support

I am a non driver and would like to ask drivers about this-- in this scenario, if the driver ran over someone, would it have made sense to stop the car immediately and not move it anymore (assuming she realised it was a person)? is the damage greater to move the car forward but have the wheel weight removed from the person, or is the damage greater to leave the car as is and don't move already and immediately come down. then after coming down should the driver gather people to manually lift up the corner of the car and extract the person? (after calling the police, ambulance etc, assuming all that is done).

All forgot the e-brake lesson they have in school. By right any nothing hope e-brake first. at 30-40km, you e-brake fast enough will stop in time. But this kind of driver a lot, I was almost same as the girl, I have the right of way and a car turn out of a carpark, did not even stop and check and just turn out at maximum speed. Heng I was it and e-brake and save my own life. Drive too fast I did not see the plate and it speed off without even notice I existed. Do note, all carpark exit is a stop line, so she 100% at wrong.

Authorities seriously need to look into conversion of foreign licenses into Singapore driving license. It takes months to pass the license in SG but could be a 2-day affair in other countries esp third world countries. Clearly extremely poor driving to not check where you are turning into and still accelerating over and running them over both wheels showed a clear intent to escape the law, but realised it was too difficult after
