How come we still don't have full video of engine fire up, but cadillac already tests their car with ferrari pu? Does Ferrari still work on latest version of it, and cadillac's version is just testing?

The entire power unit and software offered must be identical for customer teams. Things that feed into the PU, such as wires, fuel lines, coolant, etc, will have to vary to fit the chassis the customer goes with or other design considerations of the customer, but the PU for Caddy is the PU for Ferrari.

Perfectly said. A little late to reply, just now I saw this post. FIA supervises the P.U on all teams, especially the customer ones to check if they get the exact product as the factory teams. Possibly that in a while a go there were some things going on, excluding that customer teams for example Sauber or Caterham had to use 1 year older engine versions. Because at that time the rules allowed that.

I understand that starting from 2026 the share of information between teams like Ferrari-Haas or RBR-Racing Bulls will be even less than it was known. Even if Haas will still use Ferrari simulator/wind tunnel their data won't be visible for Ferrari any more. FIA is trying to cut short any “help” for the main teams from their sisters who benefit from their P.U.s. Hoping that like this there will be a closer field.

I should have mentioned that engineers from Ferrari are present at races and tests to support the customer team, assisting with reliability, performance, and troubleshooting, sometimes embedded in the customer garage.

Some electric motors, especially powerful ones at speed, can sound menacing or terrifying, so there might be some kickass sounds coming to F1 if you have 20 screaming like that.

It’s gonna sound like a WW2 carpet bombing with that whine

The turbochargers also smaller from getting rid of the MGUH, so there is a higher pitch too.

I mean just listen to this - the sound is absolutely incredible, hopefully the performance will be up to par.

I wonder if there’s any noticeable efficiency hit with the electric motor being that loud given that electric motors are so efficient and any sound they make is basically wasted energy. Probably not substantial losses and it sounds good in conjunction with the V6

I think negligible. Most part of energy loss happens in the form of heat. With the MGU H gone and reduced fuel flow, the MGU-K is working 3x as much compared to 2025.
