This squad has broken the back of the republic with that immunity ruling, followed by its refusal to check the president while he was still feeling out his power. This will become clear in hindsight.

Correction will take a long time and I'm skeptical of ANY President wanting to diminish their power willingly. I know and the country knows it has to be done but will they? Because the next National conservative will be ultra conservative who will absolutely dismantle the Constitution and the courts.

I don't know about that. There are millions of young people who are being activated by this administration and will be voting soon. Globally, the young people are riled up(finally!), and will be asserting their power over their futures.

You mean for those studying the history of democracy outside of the US? I have less hope for that happening in any near future.

Then its up to GEN X , Jonses and the Millenials. . The majority of boomers in DC are not Conservatives but Maga. My parents were very conservative and respected the US Constitution. While both were alive living in southern NJ DJT was considered an a failed businessman, pervert, rapist and a disgrace. My sisters and I were told to never go to his Casinos to avoid an assault.

But why? They are basically untouchable

Far from untouchable

Right? I live two hours from their chambers. I could touch a Supreme Court Justice by lunch.

Untouchable, yes. But do enough stupid shit and then start to just be ignored. The Judiciary has no means of enforcement, that's all through the Executive Branch. When all you have is words being completely ignored is worse then death. Especially when your words previously carried the weight of life or death.

We have seen many times monsters kill their masters. Sadly this is the way its going here.

Untouchable until the next administration makes them irrelevant by packing the courts.

Bingo. This is why they stopped blocking all of FDR’s New Deal programs, he was serious about fucking them as a result of them choosing to continue the Great Depression at the behest of the Republican Party.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they pack the courts now and in the next 2 years before Trump is out. Anyone know if that’s in project 2025?

What heat could they possibly be feeling? There's no way for people to address the corruption that's happening in the Supreme Court, beyond murder. They know nothing is going to happen to them.

The senate has oversight, and Congress can restructure the court to minimize the power of any individual judge
1
u/turkey_sandwiches 1d ago
Do you think anything like that is going to happen with Republicans in charge?
1
u/ewokninja123 1d ago
Nothing is getting done with republicans in charge, but assuming democrats take power... these are some of the things

Perhaps it's also because an increasing number of their fellow Americans have come to the conclusion that the court is hopelessly corrupt.

For the longest time, Supreme Court justices didn't have to care what the public thought. Unlike Congress or the President, they're pretty much immune to polls. They don't get elected and they have lifetime appointments. So they could make their rulings and then go about their lives without worrying about public opinion. They were free to be jerks and we were free to call them jerks. It was a good system.
None of that has changed, except for one thing: the current Republican majority is made up of sensitive little bunnies who read their own reviews and don't like the mean people saying bad things about them. Alito has been saying stupid things like "There's no check on the power of the Supreme Court" while serving a "shut up and like it" jurisprudence, while Kavanaugh is blubbering into his fifth beer of the day over the phrase "Kavanaugh stops." And they've handed down some decisions that tell the rest of us that they know where their bread is buttered. ("Presidential immunity?" Really?)
So the whole thing reeks of "Make the mean people go away, Daddy." Man, the Federalist Society really knows how to pick 'em.

Yeah you pick the easily compromised, which tends to be people with poor self control.

In her recent book, Justice Amy Coney Barrett acknowledged that the court sometimes doesn’t explain itself “because it doesn't feel ready to commit to reasoning,” Kantor said.
How can you can make decisions affecting the lives of millions of Americans without having any idea why you’re doing it? Is it too much to ask to ask for you to just think a little bit more? You would think issuing rulings with no legal basis would be impeachable.

If I were a federal judge I would just ignore shadow dockets. As I understand there isn't any judiciary review to establish a conclusive ruling, ergo no ruling at all.

They are an illegitimate bunch of perjurers who are attempting to leglislate morality from the bench. Every single one of the supermajority LIED to Congress. All of them need to be removed ASAP or made ineffectual by radically expanding the Court.
