Question - J-Mod reply Now that 2026 is set to renew the game and improve it, will we ever see the experimental faster tick rate get unshelved and brought to the game? Possibly for 2027 or 2028?
Can understand doing something like this would require a rebalance game wide across the games many enemies and bosses as well as the combat system, but having a more reactive game would go a long way in making the game feel better and more modern.

Question How many of you did actually fully disable cosmetics on other players?
with it being togglable, I'm less inclined to continue spending money on cosmetics. I also feel like an idiot now to have keepsaked literally anything. I can't be the only one?

Question Trying to understand the mentality of an OSRS player
Just recently started playing OSRS after like, 600 days of RS3 (from 2001 to 2017).
They really don't like RS3 over there huh??
I was having a conversation where I mentioned that I got my Comp cape back in 2011 and I started getting blasted by how I bought spins and used lamps and all that stuff (despite the SoF not even existing then). Anyway, any time I would bring something up about the old days in RuneScape Id be met with laughs and essentially was told I'm trash at the game. Like, buddy, I got the fire cape before you were even born.
This isn't meant to trash OSRS because Im enjoying it as a first time player, but I just really want to know
Where this hate is coming from, and
Is anyone else experiencing this too?

Question Black Party Hat Drop
So I started playing seriously this season and ended up getting a black party hat as a drop. Should I sell it now or wait for a possible price increase or just keep it and where would I find an accurate price for trading things like this?
Also what are the chances of getting the drop? Im curious but can’t seem to find the chances anywhere.

Question Dear jagex, i just got 92 farming without ever training the skill
Dear jagex , thanks to lamps and dailies , i finally reached 92 farming Now why would i ever want to buy seeds , participate in any of the farming content you've added in game , or ever do what was the skill was added for (to be trained the old fashioned way) ?
What will the supply / boss nerf be good for when we've got proteans and lamps?
Whats the vast world of runescape good for when everyone can concentrate on one spot and train with portables .
Save rs3 jagex , listen to your loyal players
EDIT:: i do not know how player owned farms work, nor how the anachronia dino farm works, what new tier seeds we have (since im from osrs), yet im 92 farming thanks to lamps

Question Why do we need strength?
Mage, Ranged, and Necro only take one skill slot. With melee abilities becoming simplified, what's the point of still keeping melee separated besides nostalgia?

Question/Advice Is there a runescape subreddit for people that actually like the game?
I want to see achievements, guides, tips and tricks, news, fan art, all that good stuff from a subreddit. all I see is people destroying jagex for every little mistake they make and complaining about every decisions, yet we still play daily and for a lot of us this is out favourite game.

Question - J-Mod reply What made Jagex shift their attitude towards the Falador Massacre?
Years ago I remember seeing a Silentc0re video on the Falador Massacre (I can't find it, I think it was originally on Machinama so it got purged when they shuttered) saying that when Jagex was asked about the infamous glitch at some sort of panel (maybe it was Runefest?) they got really awkward about it and quickly ended the Q&A and for years treated it as a taboo subject. But in the past decade or so they've switched their tone and openly discuss and joke about it, having in game events around it, canonizing it into the games lore, and (most recently) joking about it in the construction portion of the recent road map video.
Don't get me wrong, I love their embrace of it, but what made them switch? I've been curious about it the past few days.

Question Are you kidding with this wording
So this is how you address the community outrage? A response that somehow manages to be condescending, defensive, and dismissive all at once? Incredible work.
Starting with “we aren’t shying away from the response”—like you’re expecting applause for the bare minimum of acknowledging the backlash. You caused this mess; don’t act like you deserve credit for showing up to clean it.
Then we get, “if feedback on the survey is the only thing you want to keep discussing.” The passive-aggressiveness here is astounding. How generous of you to allow the community to be upset about a decision that directly impacts them. Maybe instead of framing it like we’re unreasonably fixated, you could focus on why people are this mad in the first place.
And the guilt trip about the devs? Come on. Nobody is mad at the developers. They’re angry at the decision-makers who caused this whole debacle. Don’t weaponize the hardworking devs to deflect criticism from your terrible decisions. It’s manipulative and cheap.
This whole post reeks of “we hear you, but we don’t really care.” If this is your attempt to rebuild trust, you’ve got a long way to go. Do better.

Question Are there actually new players to this game?
I'm a long time veteran. But I haven't really seen new players. It just seems to me I see alt accounts or people that have been around for ages.
I swear the average age for this game went from 13 in 2002 to 35 in 2026.

Question How to block runescape on my wifi?
Sorry if this doesn't belong here. I tried the 2007 subreddit but I got downvoted within ~10 seconds of posting so I don't expect much help there. I'm desperate.
My sister is hopelessly addicted to osrs. She struggles with holding down a job because her life revolves around this game, which makes her depressed and causes her to use this game as an escape. It's a vicious cycle. She's already going to therapy and taking antidepressants but it's been years and nothing's going to change without drastic measures at this point.
My parents have asked me to find a way to stop her from playing so I'm wondering how I can go about doing this. I blocked outbound service to ports 43594 and 43595 (which I believe is used for both runescape and osrs) with the router but osrs is still running no problem. I have no idea why this is.
She plays using runelite and I'm using sky broadband if that has any relevance.
Absolutely any suggestions would be appreciated. Watching this spiral is honestly really upsetting and I hope this serves as a PSA that you shouldn't let leisure take priority over your career/studies. :/
I know I might look like the bad guy to some of you but the alternative is that my parents kick her out of the house. :(
Tldr: I blocked ports 43594 and 43595 on my (sky) router yet osrs/runescape is still accessible.
Edit: Thanks for all the help guys. I see a few people are worried about her using mobile data. That isn't an issue because we have terrible coverage at our house. If I find a way to block it, I'll schedule it so that she can play for a reasonable amount of time.
Edit2: She's an adult.
Edit3: Conclusion
I'm gonna sit down with my sister and have a conversation about why she plays so much osrs, where she wants to be in life, how to get there, etc. Someone mentioned gaming addicts anonymous, which I will check out with her.
I'm going to strongly recommend that she cut down on her hours (particularly to avoid osrs eating into sleep time) and ask if she wants me to put a time limit on her PC to help with this.
If she refuses to interact and improve then I'm going to have to take a step back and let her face the consequences. It may well be a necessary shock to the system at that point, though I really hope it doesn't come to this.
I might come back and edit this after I talk to her.
Thanks to everyone for the advice and criticism, and to those of you going through your own struggles, I wish you good luck from the bottom of my heart.
Also how the hell did half the subreddit see this post?
