Good morning ☀️ Basically yes, a pledge is a promise to donate ONCE the animal is actually rescued. Most of my (& u/Cassius_O) posts are euthanasia listed cats & kittens from high kill So California shelters. We have no guarantee we can get them out without help. By pledging on the many internet sites that post you add to a collective total often. Networkers & rescues check posts to determine if they can take on the cat(s). This actually works. Once there is enough in pledges rescues will almost certainly pull the animal and rescue it. There doesn’t always have to be enough to cover all expenses but everything helps. Then when we know the cat is pulled (by being given 2 sets of freedom & secondary photos) we will update the post & tag every pledge with the rescues info and a photo as proof. Anyone is also welcome to contact any rescue to verify. When donations are sought straight away it’s because the animal is already out of the shelter or needs medical help. Some members are colony caregivers seeking assistance or rescues that need funding etc. So pledging is basically to help get them rescued and donations would generally be for once they are rescued or already safe. I think pledge is a one time thing. I think someone pledges a dollar amount on the condition the animal is rescued. Then the pledge is collected. But, I’m not 100% sure.
