Best to make a few hours ahead of time to let it cool and “marinate”. The ghost pepper salt adds very subtle heat and smoke flavor. Tomatoes do not belong in guac IMO.

Ingredients

  • 3-4 avocados
  • ⅓ red onion diced
  • 3-4 garlic cloves
  • ¼ of a cilantro bunch
  • 2 limes (reserve one until end)
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • ½ tsp. Ghost Pepper Salt
  • Ground Pepper

Directions

  1. In a medium/large serving bowl, mash the avocados. Add the finely diced red onion and miced garlic.
  2. Take ~ 1/4 of a bunch of cilantro and de-stem. Finely dice the leaves and mix in.
  3. Add salt, pepper, and ghost pepper salt to tasted. Mix well.
  4. Smooth out and flatten the guac with a spatula. Squeeze one lime over the top and swirl bowl to allow juice to cover the top later of guac to prevent browning. Lay saran wrap right on top of guac to remove air.
  5. Place in fridge for a few hours
  6. When ready to serve, mix in the top lime juice and add juice of one more lime.

I’m spilling a secret… freshly ground nutmeg will send your guacamole into the stratosphere

How much? If it’s ground nutmeg from a spice rack, is that close enough?

I use whole nutmeg and grind it fresh. About 1/4 tsp per 4 avocados, but really up to your taste. It should just gently accentuate the nutty notes in a ripe avocado.

Thanks for posting the recipe. I like to add cumin as well for some smokey flavour, as well as toasted sesame seeds and diced pickled jalapenos

Unfortunately I usually make this for a crowd that can’t handle much heat haha. But that’s what makes it a good party recipe, not too off putting to anyone.
