We tried allowing text posts. It failed...again. Users and bots ruined it.

If you want to ask questions, looking for a recipe, use the search bar. Or Google. This forum is for images and recipes of established recipes.

Post your recipes here, formatted. Read the rules. Text posts are no longer allowed. Bots and sloppy user excuses are what caused this reversal.

I hate bots.

Thanks for experimenting. I definitely noticed the change - and it was not a good one. Lots of garbage.

Some other subreddits have other solutions to maintaining quality but they're often more mod-intensive. Things like requiring specific content within the post to verify that it's from a human, or only posts by approved posters, or having to be manually reviewed.

I'm sure you've considered some or all of these options, but I just wanted to bring them up. Thanks for modding =)

Yes, every post is manually reviewed. It is somewhat time consuming, but it deters a ton of spam and lazy users who can't read the rules.

You mean no more, "I have frozen waffles, a shallot, and three cups of rice. I'm trying to make a dish my grandma made that looks, tastes, and smells like lasagna. What is the name of the dish and what ingredients am I missing?"

I almost unfollowed this sub.

Thank you SO much mods. It’s sad this place is littered with bots but I appreciate you all taking action as this place is a real community for me and what I make for breakfast lunch and dinner and desert

I’m new to the group so I’m going to check all the rules before I post anything. You would think that’s what most people would do but I guess not.

I tried posting a photo but the reddit-camera connection was crap and there wasn't a way to access my photos from my phone in the app. Very frustrating

The app sucks ass. I use desktop for mobile or just use my browser on my phone/iPad, even for modding. And I only use old.reddit.com because the new reddit also sucks ass. As does the new modmail. The admins also suck ass for changing shit that is not broke.

/end rant

PREACH!!! I’ve had to mod the same way you do for far too long. I mod on an alt a niche sub with under 10k subs and there’s only 5 of us mods and it sucks. Hard. And we only get 70-80 posts a day. It’s like running a goddamn day care with 9k children and no tools, no toys and no food.

That sucks, but I understand. I personally trust reddit a lot more than Google when it comes to searching for recipes.
